Goo-gone and a SNES cart's back label?

I recently got a copy of Final Fight Guy, but it has the Blockbuster sticker, faded, on it. I have removed the sticker, but there is still residue from it on the back label of the cart. Is it safe to use goo-gone on the back label? If not, what should I do?

And OT, is it possible to get a box and instruction manual for FFG?

Final Fight Guy did come with a box and manual. I imagine they are VERY hard to find though, given the nature of them being rented and the abuse that comes with it.

You can try alcohol (rubbing or isopropyl) with q-tips on the residue to rub it out, or try tacking it off with pieces of tape.

It works PERFECT in getting off the sticky residue and doesn't hurt the labels. (at least it never has for me) .

Hey Guys,

Why not cheat and take the cart apart and find another Snes cart (maybe if you have 1 or more copy's of a game say.... SF2)

Make sure it's clean and tidy, and matches ( i have noticed there can be slight differences in the shades of grey) the front half of the FF Guy cart, and there you have a great looking cart, no stickers!! no messing....

See what happens..

That's what I do. If the front of the cart is messed up then I fix it, but if it's the back then I swap it out with one of my common doubles.

It works great, but also make sure the replacement back is a matching shape as well. Some have different plastic shapes, and you can damage a cart by forcing a mismatched back on a cart.

I wasn't aware that damage was possible but it doesn't escape belief. I've known that not all cart casings were created equal in that some halves would hold the circuit board loosely if they weren't proper matches.

Got a cart that rattles? Then you can deduce what happened to it sometime during its life. ;)

Get a piece of denim and rub the piss out of it.It will burn the sticky stuff off.It will take a bit of work but will get the job done without harming the item.

You sure it's goo gone that messes your carts and not goo off?

Goo gone never hurts my carts, but then again it doesn't take markers 100% off. In these cases, I just swap backs (NES).

But if you really want to remove something, use goo off! It comes in a can that looks exactly like the type you buy to refill a lighter. This stuff is strong. It takes EVERYTHING off.. and it does do a bit of harm to the carts plastic.

I've seen goo off actually melt plastic!

avoid the stuff called "Oops" like a plague. it comes in the same lighter-fluid can. That crap started melting my CD case backs when i tried to remove some preowned stickers >_<

I have Final Fight Guy with the box and instructions in excellent condition. Lucky. It can be found. I got mine in a huge mixed lot from ebay like a year ago but I saw a complete one on ebay a few weeks ago for around $40 I think.

If you use rubbing alcohol, be careful. If you use too much you can damage the labels.

I've always used a very small amount of very cheap lighter fluid on a q-tip. It removes glue like nobody's business and doesn't harm the labels if you just use a little. Be very careful with it though since, you know, it's flammable and everything.

I would stay away from Alcohol on labels. Even the smallest amount with the gentlest rubbing can screw it up.

I use Goo Gone on labels and it works great if you follow these rules

1) Put the goo gone on a cloth (not a paper towel, and not directly on the label)
2) Stay away from the label edges
3) Rub lightly, too hard and you'll take paint off
4) Dry off the label when youre done
