The pages are Japanese so I am translating them.

Intro page. (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?url=http%3A%2F%2Fhomepage1.nifty.com%2F%7 Eds79%2Fkamikaze%2F5%2F&lp=ja_en&tt=url)

The screenshots page (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fhomepage1.nifty.com%2F%7Eds79%2Fk amikaze%2F5%2Fsnap.html)

I found this while Googling for Famicom to see pics of Famicoms. What the heck IS this?

Kamakaze something. It has a file to download which is an "ips" file. But how do I play it?

From reading the Instructions page, it appears it is a Patch for SMB1.
Beginner page (http://babelfish.altavista.com/babelfish/urltrurl?lp=ja_en&url=http%3A%2F%2Fhomepage1.nifty.com%2F%7Eds79%2Fk amikaze%2F5%2F..%2F0%2Fbeginner%2Fbeginner1.html)

Is there anyone out there who can follow these instructions and make me a ROM? I really wanna play this thing! I thought it was real at first. But it is damn cool to look at.

(Don't ask me why it looks like Mario has no pants on.)

You need a ROM patcher. Get SNESTool from www.zophar.net to be able to patch.

I can't find one on that site, and even if I did, it will most likely be for Windows only. Which is why I asked for someone to do it for me.

It is a hack of smb. The guy has some other hacks which I need to try out because they look like they are fun. Here is the original page which I had bookmarked 6 months ago. http://homepage1.nifty.com/~ds79/kamikaze/

I don't know if any NES emulators do this, but with snes emulators, all you have to do is rename the patch the same as the rom file, and it patches automatically.

What sort of Famicoms are you looking for? Sharp versions or what? I could help you out there.

Also, the IPS is used with an IPS patching tool. I got one the other day for BS-X Zelda, actually. You need to get an executable and you need to have the correct parent ROM to work with. Be sure to make a copy of the ROM you're patching or else you will have to redownload it as the old ROM will be permanently "patched." Outside of that, I haven't patched any ROMs myself, so that's all I can tell you.

I have patched all of my roms that had patchs for them with ipswin.

http://www.zophar.net/utilities/patchutil.htmlThanks!!

The IPS Patcher link for OS X didn't work. App wouldn't let me choose a ROM. (All my NES ROM's didn't work. But for some reason I could choose SNES and N64 ROM's.)

But UIPS Patcher does. And is better. And it worked great! I gotta try all of them!

Edit: Oh my god! These are awesome! Are there other IPS patches for games? How can I find them? These four are so cool.

Oh, I was just bored. I like pictures of hardware be it real, fake or obscure. I guess I'm also a JPEG Collector. LOL

How is BS Zelda?

Nice!

Legend of Zelda 1 with different dungeons/map layout + SNES quality graphics (yay for that shutter fade effect -- w00t!) It's a really nice game, except they've replaced Link with the BS-X kids (they had a guy and a girl for the thing. Bah).

Also, explain the Shutter Fade Effect.

Well, you emulate it, or you get ahold of a BS-X system that comes with a copy somebody made of the game. Haven't seen one in the wild, though.

What I call the "shutter fade effect" is what you see in many movies (Star Wars, and it's also present in Rogue Squadron 2 on the N64) where a large black inverted circle (so the background to the sides is black) squeezes down on the image onscreen and (usually quickly) replaces the image with a black (blank) screen. It's seen in Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES.

Arrrr!

On a side note, I think the Satellaview/Super Famicom combo is one of the most attractive Console teamup's ever.

Ed Did the patch you put on get rid of the time limit because when I tried to patch it, it didn't work.

The BS Zelda rom is out there. I have it somewhere.. although I'm sure it's an older one.

I couldn't finish the last dungeon... have they fixed this in any new releases (i.e. the game is finishable)? :?

Scratch that.. as I'm typing this I find that there does appear to be a patch for the ending! :D

After exhaustive searching, I found two BS Zelda ROM's. Both the same. Neither work.

*sigh*

I really AM doomed to never play it. :(

Impregnability "? Capturing -7 ", on the route where the writer has not supposed completely. Of course, it is clearing possible even with this method, but suitable skill technique is necessary.

What the fuck... O_O

(Don't ask me why it looks like Mario has no pants on.)

Er...

I found it odd that no one replied to my thread about Mario Adventure (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27378) a week ago.

And if you're interested in checking out the BS-X library, be advised that not all emulators are equal. I've only gotten the BS Super Mario USA specials to work properly in SNES9x 1.29 (and no later!). BS Treasure Conflix (a Squaresoft title) locks up in everything but SNEeSe and SNESGT, and even then the sprites are scrambled. BS Kobiara (Square's one and only dating game) crashes some versions of ZSNES.
