I'm sure there are some CPS2 collectors who'd be interested in that news...although an american release is still being considered, at least the japanese one got out. Pretty neat game concept, although from my understanding, the world warriors characters are really good with their touch of death combos.

Holy shit, so it was released on cps2?
I kept hearing it was gonna be on system 246
Sweet another cps2 game to get, I'm sure my wallet is happy about that. :)

Yeah, Capcom released it on cps2 for the lower cost (neogeo style LOL ) and since it's using sf2 graphics anyhow, it's not really losing anything in quality.

Correct me if I'm wrong... but is this game just Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo with the ability to choose the "version" of your character (CE, Turbo, Super, etc)?

Sorta.
Basically, if you pick that character, you have to abide by ALL the rules of that character's game. Like, if you pick a WW character, you'll find it hard, if not impossible, to reverse after a knockdown. You'll also get hit harder, but do more damage. You'll also move at WW speed, whereas a character from HF or ST moves faster (or so I hear)
See, in ST, although you had the option of picking the "old" version of the character, it wasn't really the old version. In this one, it's basically the straight up old version, minus most of the glitches. If you've ever played the second SF2 collection for ps1, the deluxe versus is sorta like this.
But if you go through 1 player mode, it is all ST characters. Akuma is still playable, and by holding start when you pick Super or Super X(ST) will allow you to pick straight versions of ST's old and normal characters (the normal ST characters have various changes made).
So in short, it's another version of SF2 ;)

So, there's nothing like World Tour mode or tournament modes or anything like that, right? Just classic 1-on-1 Street Fighter 2?

As an arcade version, I'd say that's pretty much the gist of it ;)
Not sure what the home version has, outside of a training mode and a copy of the Street Fighter 2 anime movie.
That's cool that it uses CPS2. I'm not sure if you guys care, but the PS2 version runs in high-res interlaced mode. (The actual art assets like sprites and backgrounds are still low-res, of course.) The resultant interlacing artifacts are really lame and make the game look crappy. Being able to have the game in true low-res would be an excellent reason to go for the arcade version.

Is there an article online anywhere confirming that it's on cps2?
