Having to take my daughter to a girl scout meeting on a snowy, Wisconsin night, the least I can do is reward myself with a trip to a Goodwill that's almost on the way home. Waiting for me in one of the glass cases, all by its lonesome:

http://members.aol.com/a54br9/test/dkh.jpg

I'd never seen a Game and Watch like Donkey Kong Hockey before...when I opened up the back, 2 controllers came out! Popped in 2 fresh cells when I got home, and it works like a charm. Very clean, and very close to like-new condition. Not sure how rare it is (only the 6th or 7th GW I've found in the wild), but I imagine it's a safe bet it's worth more than the $3.99 I shelled out for it.

How the hell do you guys find such good things at thrift stores? I've gone to mine and all i see are records from the 70's, crappy love novel books from 1970 and clothes somebody used to wipe their ass with. Oh wait today I saw a playstation 1 card for $10! What a rip off. Are the thrift stores you go to in large cities?

Sorry to clutter up the thread with photos, but I had to share this. Stopped in at GameStop tonight, checking to see if there was any surge of people trading in older stuff before the upcoming deadline. Didn't see much new in the bins, but saw a pile of stuff at the bottom of the Gamecube section. Went over and saw this on top:

http://members.aol.com/a54br9/test/sc2.jpg

It was marked as a generic Gamecube arcade stick, so I got it for $13.50 with the discount. It's made by Nuby, and apparently works on all 3 next-gen systems. Very sturdy with a nice arcade-feel to the stick and buttons, and the Soul Caliber II graphic has an air brushed look that is just too cool. Didn't see one on Ebay, so I don't know what it's worth...but that really doesn't matter since it's destined for a shelf in my game room.

Now I just have to pick up a copy of Soul Caliber II :D

I was pretty down yesterday after having my only find taken away from me, telling me that I'm not allowed to buy it. I also lost my gloves :(

But today was better! I found my gloves and went out looking. The downside is that I got lost. The good side is that while I was lost, I found a TRU that I had never been to before! They had marked all their DC and N64 games down to $2.90. Sweet deal! So I picked up:

Sega Smash Pack Vol 1
Soul Edge
and the 3 sport game set ($4.90 for this one)

I left pretty happy and decided to hit up another TRU to see if they had done the same. They hadn't, and I asked the cashier if they would price match. She said no, so I went to put the game back and when I was about to leave she was talking to the store manager. He asked about the deals and I showed him my reciept and the games I bought at the TRU and he said he would go ahead and match the prices so I also picked up these for also $2.90 each.

Giga Wing
Kiss Psycho Circus
Bomberman Online

I tried to do it a third time, but that store wouldn't let me =(

Passed up a new Super PLay Action Football for $5 at a thrift and Alien Front Online for $10 at CC.

For those of you around the area, the store that was discounting the games was in Novi, MI next to 12 Oaks Crossing (?) right off the 96. They had a bunch of sports games, 1 chuchu rocket, and 1 Soul Edge. N64 games were Perfect Dark and a WCW game.

Also grabbed Tall for PSX new for $8 at a closing KB, and got 1st dibs on all of the video game signage :)

Picked up a TRU 3-pack of Dreamcast 2K1 sports titles for $2.90 today(there were about 20 of them). Also got a few copies of DC Virtua Tennis 2K2 for .90 each.

Found one of those 2600 controllers with 10 games built-in, new (probably from Target) at Goodwill for $4.99

Also picked up an SNES Donkey Kong Country Competition Cartridge at GameStop yesterday for $11...I thought that was worth a separate thread :D

I got a great find, and I actually had to FIND it.

well for a back story so you understand, my brother is super poor and moved into my parents house (where i stay as well). he moved everything there. Now tonight, for some reason, it completely hit me that he had am atari 2600. i asked him how much he wanted for it, and he basically said that if i went though about 40 or 50 boxes of his stuff, that the 2600 would be in 1. well i just got done searching through the boxes about 5 minutes ago, and lucky for me, i got myself an atari 2600 for free. Plus to sweeten the deal, my bro told me that there is a game shop (that for some reason I rarely go to), that sells 2600 games for the ranges of about $0.10-0.25. So I am going tomorrow to basically buy as many cheap atari games as i can. (Are there any I should look out for that might be rare?)

Here is everything that i got (i know its not much, but i got everything for free, and hey, its not a bad find for finding out that this has all been in my OWN house, well my parents, for arounf 4 or 5 months)

atari 2600 system with all the hookups
2 joysticks

Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back
Lock 'N' Chase
Combat
Space Invaders
Yars' Revenge
Asteroids
Warlords
Donkey Kong Jr.
Centipede
Pole Position 2
Laser Blast
Raider of the Lost Ark

I just won a Dreamcast on Ebay for $6.50 from a local pawn shop. There was a $3.00 pick up charge ( I chose to go pick it up to avoid the ridiculous shipping rates) so after tax it came to a grand total of $10.10 !!! Ten bucks for a DC with all hook ups, a controller, and a memory card!! I already have 2 DC's, but I couldn't pass up this deal!!
