Shouldn't be too hard to find one on the internet. Finding one locally would probably be really tough by now.

You can find them online like Ze_ro said, but finding them "cheap" or for what they sold for new when production stopped ($50), may be impossible.

Funny you should ask this today as Sega starts taking preorders for new consoles today.
Your console will be shipped on 24th this month.

Just go to Sega Direct Japan page to make your order.

There are new games being released in Japan for the DC and Sega itself released a shooter (or will release one this year. I don't remember the date)
Maybe they want to make a little money from collectors. :-P

Shipping to Japan only as usual. I'm not sure whether Sega has used renewed or new, left-over parts to make these systems.
I think they're just scraping together all the leftover parts from the factories and hope they'll be able to make some decent consoles out of them. LOL
They do say they're as new and will be sold with a one year quarantee.

If you're looking for a good Dreamcast, you might actually want to avoid these upcoming new ones... I'm guessing they might not be able to read CD-R's (I have no proof at all, but Sega tinkered with the design of the later units, and I'm guessing these are definitely later units). You don't want to miss out on all the fabulous emulators (http://www.dcemulation.com) out there.

Dude, that's awesome! Thanks for that info, you rock!
I personally have high hopes for this (I missed the Dreamcast the first time around, now let's get back into the swing of things :D), but I'll take whatever comes.

Ze_ro,
Techically, the newer Dreamcasts will not be able to play "mil-CD" CDs, which is a "feature" that Sega built-in to be able to cheaply send demo versions of games to magazines and testors to play and review. Unfortunately, mil-CD backfired big-time when people found out you could use it to burn your own games. Piracy truly was a HUGE part of the Dreamcast's demise.
Sega had tinkered with the hardware and decided to take out mil-CD at the very end of the Dreamcast's production cycle (I guess "first production cycle"). These units are EXTREMELY rare.
Because of how they are programmed, Feet of Fury, all those emulators and everything else homebrew (and while we're at it, bleem! and the Utopia disks) use mil-CD to get them access to the processor. From all of the copies of Feet of Fury that I have sold, I have yet to find one incompatible machine. bleem! was one of the best-selling pieces of software for the Dreamcast (outselling launch PS2 titles on the week of the PS2 launch!) and I have not heard of any of them having problems.
There was supposedly a batch of revised hardware machines released, and I know at least one person who owns one. I would assume that if these machines are new, they will be the revised hardware which will be disappointing for import fans. If they are made from leftovers, they could be the same.
I'm actually pretty excited by this. I think that the DC could still make decent money as a low-cost, low-budget system, but I know Sega doesn't... :(

Any one have a link to the preorder website?
Also, will this console be aesthetically different than the traditional DC?

If you're a collector and wanting to buy one of these to put on the shelf, that's a great idea. If you're just wanting to get one to play though, there are several for sale for $8 in the Buying and Selling forum. I just bought two, one for the car and one for the living room -- that way I can leave the upstairs one where it is. ;)

You're right... I screwed that up. Even the newer version can still read CD-R's... but the whole "audio-data" disc layout that mil-CD's (and emulators, homebrews, etc) use doesn't work with the later ones.
However, I've heard (and I may be wrong on this, since I have no first-hand experience) that even these later Dreamcasts can be fooled into running stuff by burning discs with two data tracks. I forget the specifics of it though, and I've never tried it myself.
Suffice to say, if these re-released Dreamcast's lack mil-CD support, it'll be a pain in the butt getting emulators and homebrew stuff running, although it will still be technically possible.

Well, Here's the link:
http://segadirect.jp/Catalog/CustomPages/CustomDetail2.aspx?File=dcrenew_buypuyofever.htm
It seems to be a Puyo Puyo Fever ReBirth Set (my translation :) )
13,482 yen for a DC, Puyo Puyo game and some sort of Puyo Puyo cleaner.
The weird thing is the kanji after the DC set.. I think it's refurbished, not new. Does somebody want to check that? It also looks like the regular DC unit..
