Hi everyone!
My ColecoVision port of both original Space Invaders games is still going on, though slowly...
The original Space Invaders and opening screens are completed for a while, and now I am working on Space Invaders Part II. This game is a tad more complex as several graphic routines demanded rewriting. I have corrected a few bugs in the process too.
You can see some new screenshots here:

Thanks for the interest, (and hope there still are some Coleco fans somewhere in the world)

It certainly looks impressive so far, and any new games for the old systems are always welcome!
Have you ever seen John Dondzila's "Space Invasion?" That is one excellent homebrew!

Space Invasion is surely an excellent game, as it is every game by John Dondzila. It's a shame I have never talked to him about his Coleco creations and programming... or anything else (can you hear me, John? ) And in some extent, I must agree Space Invasion is a more original game than mine.
SI Collection Pack is more in the hardcode conversion side. Every game routine, graphics, sounds, game play, tricks, bugs, etc are truly emulated there. Honestly, there is no noticeable difference between playing the original games and this Coleco version (aside the sound, analog in the originals, and screen layout). Try to leave just a big invader on screen (the ones in the two lower rows), and see the result...
When I was about to begin programming, I decided I wanted an arcade conversion, cause I have always seen the ColecoVision as a machine for very good arcade conversions. It was before the emulation boom. Today I am not sure if my choice was any good, since now if someone wants to play SI, it just needs to download the ROMs and play it in MAME. Anyway, maybe the feel of playing it on the ColecoVision still attracts some people (and I must say, it is way so cool... :D )

Hey! Eduardo!
Good work! So the next beta version will be the last one?
When do you think your S.I. will be done in cart version?

Hi Daniel,
So the next beta version will be the last one?
I am not sure yet... As you already know, my spare time has been scarcer than usual.
I hope to release it before Christmas, but I still need to solve the problem with plastic cases. Maybe Good Deal is going to release the cases...
I will post some new screenshots showing SI Part II intermissions today...
Good hear of you again! :)

I don't think that it would really be a problem. I'm always facinated by the sort of effort it takes to make a really good conversion for various systems. It looks to me like this is a VERY good conversion. Good luck.

I "hope" you will be able to release some carts of the Space Invaders Pack (ColecoVision version) before christmas...
This will be a nice christmas gift for you and me : doing a special trade for some homemade Coleco carts for the canal3 and ccjvq members.

Hi Daniel,

Surely! I hope you would be still holding copies of your Coleco games (Bejeweled, Ms Space Fury, etc) for trade when Space Invaders is ready!
By the way, I didn't know about ccjvq. Is it a Canadian videogame club? I was not able to understand CCJVQ's site; you know, my French isn't this good... :(
Also, I have posted some new screenshots in my web site today:

Hey just curious.. since you're trying to make this as hardcore-close as possible, is the trick in SI part 2 where if you shoot the invaders in 55 shots or less (or rollover the shot counter by shooting 255+ shots) thus earning an extra man also coded in there?

Hehehe!
Of course! And a few others I think very few people know...
I have ever kept the bugs...
By the way, I have discovered the function for dip switch 3 too...
