View Full Version : Making a 'Kisado' converter

I have a dead Turbo Grafx that I was thinking of robbing the card connector from and placing it on a custom PCB. Anyone have any experience with etching kits? Even better, are there plans (like a pattern to print out) available on the net for this sort of thing?
I've got 3 TG-16's kicking around the house now and I figured I'd so something with the one that doesn't work, anyway.
I've used the Radio Shack pcb etchant, it works kinda well, as long as you don't make tiny traces. I hooked it up to my plotter and let it draw the lines so they looked nice, but doing it by hand works fine too. I just used the sharpie that came with it, although I've heard that the toner transfer works better if done correctly, but I've also heard that it doesn't work at all. I'll have to give it a try some day, or if you try it, let us know how it works.
I'm not sure about plans, I just used a free pcb design program, that I can't remember the name of ATM, I'll post it when I get home.

Hmmm, you could remove the data from a hu card you don't need or cut the traces to the chip and solder the connecter onto it....

Just a quick thank you to DogP for the software and advice. I am looking at a 6" by 12" board to split it in half and accomodate the length required. I would most likely have an extra board that would just require a connector at the end of this.

Bratwurst, keep us informed, even build a website w/ indepth details if possible.
I would certainly love to hear how your endeavors turns out, as I'm sure many others would too!
