I was thinking today, games are made, and some have some odd titles (mostly classic ones) and people never say a thing about it or question WHY this is this way. For instance...

Why is Mortal Kombat spelled with a K?
Just what makes the Mario Bros. so Super?
How come Lara in Tomb Raider stopped raiding Tombs?

....this topic is just regarding the titles of the game, not odd occurences in the game (too many of those already), anyone else have any titles of games that raise a question?

Why is Mortal Kombat spelled with a K?
Artistic license. It's "Kool" to spell it with a "K."

They're super because they have super powers now - mushroom = bigger. Flower = firepower. SUPER!

How come Lara in Tomb Raider stopped raiding Tombs?
This one was published in the Enquirer. I think it had something to do with her nude photo shoot from her college days. LOL

"Why is Mortal Kombat spelled with a K?"
"Just to be weird," Boon replied.

Quote from Ed Boon, creator of Mortal Kombat.

That being said, there sure is a lot of oxymorons in game titled. Aggressive Inline wasn't that aggressive, and 4x4 Evolution was just like every other 4x4 game I ever played. I even play Backyard Wrestling in my house and Midnight Racing during the day, that's what kind of rebel I am.

The best one, right up there with jumbo shrimp and Microsoft Works, is Intellivision Lives.

I know theres a reason MK was spelled with a K, but what I meant was, that no one really asks why? Its just...there...and people accept it.

How about the 2600 game called "Name this game?" That's a good title. Maybe there should be a new game on the newer platforms with similar title and offer an award for anybody who can name the game a better title?

Why is "Toad" a mushroom and no toad?

When does Link ever wakes up a wind in Zelda:WW?

Why is "Donkey Kong" a gorilla and no donkey?

Show me the new thing in "The NEW tetris"!

Didn't they ever think to themselves "Egg-man, that's stupid. We should just keep calling him Robotnik!"?

Why is "Toad" a mushroom and no toad? It's short for "Toadstool." Like calling someone named "Edward" "Ed."

Why is "Donkey Kong" a gorilla and no donkey? Paraphrasing old lore here, but Donkey means "Stupid or Crazy" in Japanese and "Kong" is a gorilla name (King Kong), so it means "Silly or Crazy Gorilla." Like I said, that's a loose explanation. Someone else may be able to shape up the facts for me...
