I would like to own an elementary school someday for habitation. With former school grounds the total acreage and building facilities go for insanely low prices compared to 'real' housing. One could convert the classrooms into apartments or storage, charge rent and then turn the gym into an exercise club.

Me, I'd stick arcades in the damn thing and turn it into a private ranch. Live out my dream of being a true recluse.

I pass an old abandon school every day on the way to work. One day a sign went up and there was a sign for Oklahoma Land Available and a website link. We went there and the land was being put up for auction. I too thought what a great place that would be to work and live. Hell, have a couple of rooms for your living space and I was entertaining ideas of running a music studio out of there too. Long story short, someone bought it and bulldozed it down a week later. Poo.
