I saw this new article on GameSpot this morning:

Very interesting comments.

Very interesting read. It does make you wonder if the "adults only" niche of video games will ever get popular enough to go mainstream. Personally, I hope not... cuz I'm not real fond of games that flash boobs instead of gameplay. If I wanna see those, I'll just watch the Playboy channel. ^^;

I think that the conclusion at the end of the article - that they need to redefine the AO label and use it more often - is probably the best bet. It would probably appease the drooling wolves trying to nail the game industry to the wall, and it would be more honest marketing overall. I mean, how bad does it really need to get to be AO, if games like Postal aren't getting the rating? Rate it like it is, and if major marketers won't carry it, too bad. Someone out there somewhere will.

Maybe, but if you consider that MA (no one under 17) is to R (no one under 17), then there's no reason Postal should be rated AO(over 18 only) which is to X (over 18 only).
Pretty much in an R rated movie, you can show whatever sort of violence you want. The higher ratings are only there for sexual stuff.
