I have the opportunity to get the original Steel battalion, used, but well-cared for and complete, for about $150. I don't even have an X-box yet, but know I 'll want to give this a go eventually.

My question for the X-box savvy among us is, should I pick this up, or wait for the set that comes with the new game they are about to release? Any problems with the original set-up that the new release is set to fix? Any info will be greatly appreaciated.

Thanks in advance,
Rich

Although I am not on the Xbox fanboy wagon, I am an avid collector and own this great game and controller. I love it, although the second one is probably going to be alot better with online play, color customization, and HOPEFULLY SYSTEM LINK PLAY. If you buy this one, you can just buy the actual game which is going to be only 50.00(sold for those who bought the first mammoth package). Either way, if you do it this way, you are going to save $50.00 and have something valuable. I do believe that the first Steel Battalion is going for a pretty penny on the bay :D

The new set will also be $200 and is pretty much the same, except the buttons are blue instead of green.

All in all, $150 for this game complete is a good deal since they still go for $200+

I say get it.

its supposivley an excelent game, but I personaly will not dish out $200 for just a game and an oversized controller. Even $150 is still a bit much for me

I decided to pick it up...going to ebay some stuff to refill the hole in the bank account. Picture and details in the finds thread later tonight.

You have chosen...wisely.

The only problems I've run into with my controller set after 160 hours of abuse were some broken pedal springs. I swapped them around, though (each pedal has two torsion springs), and I'm still going strong. Even if you eventually break four springs and need a replacement pedal assembly, Sammy sells them for $40.

If you like giant robots with guns (enough to spend $150, apparently), Steel Battalion will most likely make your jaw drop.

Yeah, I've enjoyed my share of Mech games over the years...loved Gungriffon on the Saturn, Front Mission 3 on the PS1, Tech Romancer on the DC, and just finished RAD on the PS2 (a blast!). All of them had different gameplay, and were fun in their own way, so I'm looking forward to the full-metal mech experience of Steel Battalion.

Now I just need to find a deal on an X-box!

The one thing I liked the most (besides the controller, of course) is the realism.

If you haven't played it yet, you'll see what I mean.

I was kind of dissappointed that there was no force feedback though...
