I have a small collection of game figures including zelda, mario, donkey kong, final fantasy VIII, and Sonic (all loose). I was wondering if you people buy packaged action figures and if they are not highly sought after (FF VII figures) do you take them out of the packages or leave them in? I was just curious because in my opinion an action figures true beauty is shown out of the packages. ;)

I'm eagerly awaiting the final versions of the SNK vs Capcom figures. The early molds looked pretty good. The main series of action figures I have are the Hokuto no Ken 200X series. Yeah, I know, its anime series, but it does have a long string of apparently very bad games lol Here's some linkage to Kenshiro model #2. (http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljpage.cgi?KYDHK32)

So far I have the original model Kenshiro, Rei, and Falco. Here's a rundown on the toys and articulation. (http://www.toymania.com/features/spotlight/northstar.shtml)

Mine are all opened except for roughly 5. It takes up too much room to keep them in their packages. See here:

That's a bit old though... :P I had to split them up into various parts of the room. I ran out of space. I should really take new pics....

I remember when I first started viewing the rooms of doom (I actualy found joes RoD on google, and later discovered there were more room pics, and then later learned about digitpress.com from RoD) and your picture there of all of your figures is one of my favorite pictures from all the rooms. That picture there actualy inspired me to start collecting figures. I would love to see your new pics :)

Before I got hardcore into video game collecting, my first love was action figure collecting... I have a bunch of video game related figures, both in and out of package... off the top of my head I can remember:

Toy Biz Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 series
Epoch/Palisades Tekken 3, Tekken Tag Tournament
McFarlane Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2
Bandai Final Fantasy VII, VIII, IX
Resaurus Street Fighter Jr. and Street Fighter figures

Yes, lol, those are probably the last three characters from the SF series I'd get..! (well, I'd just get Chun Li, Cammy, and Guile, maybe the matador...heh)

I have a lot of figures from random sets and places thought the two stood by the PC right now are the Iksar from EverQuest (Never played it just like that character) and a Bowser Figure from the Mario Kart 64 series.

Man I wish Bowser would get his own game he's so much cooler than Mario ^-^

If you just enjoy the figures, I would open them up and display them proudly. If you enjoy the artwork as well or plan on selling your collection someday, you should not open them. If you are like me and can't decide, you should buy one of each, one to leave boxed and one to open. :)

Posted before, but ...

I open just about all of my toys. Otherwise, what's the point? ;)

I collect quite a few game-related (and other) toys...and, naturally, have a whole section devoted to 'em here (http://www.thelogbook.com/toy/). You'll find the Dragon's Lair, Pac-Man, Q*Bert, Tron (including some Japanese exclusives) and Donkey Kong figures in the "other" section. Quite a few of these were on display at OKGE last September, and I think I was asked if they were for sale about once an hour during the whole thing. LOL

I tend to keep my figures open sans my starting lineup and few star wars figures (had almost as many as that picture showed but the market for newer figures is non-existant so I sold mine to help pay for my wedding a couple of years ago)

I love seeing my simpsons figures and what not in their enviorments. I only have a couple of vg ones, but get em when I find em.

Gamereviewgod, that's a nice pic! What's the sky blue Super Mario World box on the top-middle shelf? I can't make it out... maybe "quest cards"? I dunno...

Those are quiz cards. Me and I believe it was Punkoffgirl got into a conversation about them. There's about 1500 different cards and they cover various topics like general science, space, plants, animals, etc. I have about 100-200 cards and never seen anymore. That box was made specifically to hold them.

I have a couple of figs. I keep most of them in packages. The Dragons Lair figs hold no value, so I am guessing it might be like that with all Video Game Figs.

The resaurus SFII figs go for ridiculous amounts on E-bay, some hitting $60 regularly. Why I didn't buy them all when I had the chance still has me bashing my head into a wall to this day. The first series of Halo figs is pretty ridiculous too.

I have four shelves filled with game character figures. I also have around 20 other figures in other places, not displayed. I may start taking down more to make room for games.
