View Full Version : Big update to my site

Okay, I finally did this. Been working on it for a while actually. What I did is:

-Redid the bonus section (DB driven, so updates are easier and quicker. Still got a lot of content I need to input, but the framework is there)
-added the FAQ (one Q so far) and the updates section
-updated the "unreleased" list. Note, this is unreleased in Japan, so there are some games that came out in the west, but not the East. Might be good for a laugh though. (Also note, I'm sure there's a few mistakes, and some terrible romanization).

and for the part everyone wants to see
-added 150+ Famicom flyers. My poor scanner has about hade it. These are damn near impossible to find, so I hope everyone enjoys them. Quite retro. Funny to see how our short, asian counterparts advertised back in the 80's. There are some for a few unreleased games as well (Shonen Majutsushi Indi, Strider, etc.)
-added an invisible hit counter (my VGWS one died -- anyone know why?). So, I know I'm getting a lot more hits than I thought I was.

For those that won't look at my sig:

Much more to come... just gotta put it in there. Only got two more pages to code ("tranaslations" and "other") and then it'll be back to throwing up content in all my free time.

Enjoy!

Lemme tell you GP, when I got my JP saturn, your site became an instant plethora of info for me. I'm so glad you have this site and you've done a great job on it. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! The Saturn is definitely my strong suit, although I try not to neglect the other big players. Always glad to hear about someone joining the Saturn club. Kind of a small-world story. Was playing PSO with a guy (from the US) that I've played with a few times before (met on a PSO BBS). We're talking games and he's like, "I head to the Japnaese Gaming part of Classic Gaming to check out Saturn obscurities from time to time." Kinda chuckled.

I should have some cool Saturn stuff to add soon. If you want to shed a quick tear, read the Saturn unreleased list. Kind of a bummer. :(

And the Bonus section is sadly DOWN :( *sob*

Anyway, YAY on getting all that stuff up! Did you ever get that UL scan I sent you? I know you don't have an MSX section yet.....

Okay, I know at least one person is checking! Thanks max. I fixed the link now (honest mistake). Should be good to go. Enjoy.

Also, I don't think I got a scan from you recently. I'll have two new sections in the main section by the end of the month... they wouldv'e been there for this update had I not lost an HD. :(

Oh, yeah -- one other thing I forgot.
I uploaded that Shining Force III wallpaper I finished a month or two ago (but never uploaded)

That is some SERIOUSLY cool shit! BTW, one of the links is partly broken:

All I can say is WOW! Great stuff!

Damn ---
leave it to you find the ONE freaking thing I didn't feel like rescanning last night. I overwrote the original somehow, and though "nobody's going to look at EVERYTHING in one day."
I'll try to sort that out soon.

Never underestimate the power of Maxlords. :D

Very nice site, by the way. It always pains me to see all the cool stuff Japan gets that we have no prayer of over here. I wish I'd kept up with my Japanese. :o But while I can still speak a little of it, my writing and reading skills have LONG since eroded.

First of all thanks for the great site.
I've been a frequent and happy visitor for quite some time.

Recently though I changed my web browser from IE to Mozilla and have been experiencing some display problems.

The little window for game information doesn't display correctly on Mozilla sometimes leaving a part of the text out.
It seems it has something to do with the pictures not lining up properly.

Check this capture (http://www.students.tut.fi/~tiainen2/japgam.gif) of the incident:

Keep up the good work!

Thanks for the comments. I recall seeing you there Zubiac, and hopefully can be of assistance.

DavidLeeRoth:
Sorry to not see you with Van Halen, and of course the pages not displaying properly. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that that's a font issue with Mozilla (well, sort of).

Personally, I use Konqueror at work, and Mozilla (most of the time) at home (both on Linux). Unfortunately, 98% of the viewers use Internet Explorer, so that's what I do my testing on. That is reason enough to look into it though. I detest IE, but try to make it easy on everyone. I'll see what I can do.

Just to check -- are you using an option in Mozilla where you always dipslay your own fonts rather than the pages? I have something similar to that in my Mozilla, but it's a Linux thing, not Mozilla. The fonts are definitely bigger, unfortunately.

EDIT:
I went ahead and took a snapshot on my linux box of Advnaced VG. While the CSS doesn't work at all (and never has) the page display properly. Notice how much more text mine fits on one line. That's definitely the problem. I had a similar problem when moving everything over, and it was text related.

Nonetheless, I'll download Mozilla and take a look. We should probably take this up in a PM from here though.

Nice. I love looking at print ads. Are you ever going to add a famicom section to the site?

Advanced VG 2... Sonic: The Fighters... Guilty Gear... Money Idol Exchanger...

man, that does make me want to shed a tear. Those would have all kicked all sorts of booty on the Saturn. :(

I'm lovin' the site man, keep up the good work, this may have put it in the "Sites that auto-open in browser" league :)

EDIT: Huh, that FLASH disc you have in the promo section is the one that I have! Neat-o... I find more stuff about what the hell I have every day on there :D

Edit 2: *bangs head on table* I see yellow labels... what the hell is a 'red label' game? GAH

Gamegary:

If I wasn't such a dipshit, the Famicom section would have been put up with this update (DOH!). Probably next month in reality, as I'm on holiday soon.

Yeah, I know -- it sucks. The Saturn is gone, unforutnately. Still a ton of games I want to pick up for it though. As for Flash Sega Saturn -- yeah, those are wicked. There's like 30 something total (or maybe 28 or so... either way, there's a lot!)
