Disclaimer necessitated by embarrassment associated with even mentioning this game:
I don't usually buy sports games, either traditional (Madden, etc.) or non-traditional (Tony Hawk, SSX, etc.), and I'm not really enticed by rendered nudity.

But, with Wal-Mart, Toys R Us and KB toys passing on distribution, do you think BMX XXX will be uncommon or rare someday? Or do you think that, on the contrary, there will be literally millions of sales to 15-year-olds through Funco and similar outlets?

Interesting question.

Myself, I doubt it will be scarce. It's a pretty hyped game, so the production numbers will probably be up there.

Anyone else find it funny how Acclaim is acting all surprised and indignant about this?

I would never shop at Wal-Mart for *anything* in the first place, and rarely, if ever, buy games from Toys R Us and KB in the second place. 8)

I really don't care if those three retailers want to sell the game or not, it's their loss. Definitely don't see the game being scarce someday, there's already a huge demand for it and retailers refusing to carry it only serve to increase the hype.

Of course, they both sell shotguns. Damn hypocrites.

Boobs in a videogame = BAD!
Shotguns = GOOD!

The hell?

Yeah, I hardly think this game is gonna be scarce. I think LOTS of people who have no interest in x-treme sports are gonna buy it out of curiosity.

Of course, I'm still kind of unsure this thing is actually gonna release or not. I know Acclaim says it is, but could this not be just a big marketing ploy to gain them some attention? Think about it, even if this game is DOA (pun intended), they've seriously increased the visibility of the Dave Mirra franchise.

As for Acclaim acting indignant and suprized, here's what I absolutely can not wait to happen (assuming it hits the stores): the DUMB parent who buys this game for their little Johnny and then is absolutely shocked by what's in the game and proceedes to sue Acclaim, Sony, wherever they bought the game and anyone else they can think of. You just KNOW this is going to happen.

And you just know if this makes it out, there's gonna be some kind of "concerned" TV news item on it. I still remember the ones they had on local news waaay back in the day where Sherrifs were sending kids into record stores to buy 2 Live Crew albums (which it was legal to do in this state, mind you) to show how easily kids could get access to the stuff.

Personally, I think this is interesting marketing but I'm still asking why? How is putting boobies in the game enhancing it? I guess if computer generated boobs get your rocks off, you need to get outta the house more often (or you're 13 and just saying tits gives you a chubbie.)

And just a few minutes ago I read on some forum (maybe penny arcade? I forget -- in any event entirely UNCONFIRMED) that there will be both censored and uncensored versions released. I suppose that there have been precedents for that in the music industry (As Clean as They Want to Be?).

If true, I would suggest the uncensored version be released in a longbox.

With a mammary card.

``We're not going to carry any software with any vulgarity or nudity -- we're just not going to do it,'' Wal-Mart spokesman Tom Williams

hahaha makes me laugh.

This game is like a good fiery car crash, somehow I don't want to look, but I can't turn away...I'll buy it, if nothing more than for curiosity's sake...

And I am an Xtreme Sports fan so that makes it all the more interesting, nudity or not... ;)

Why pay for Nudie Girls in a game when you can get Nude Girls for FREE right here? http://www.sublimedirectory.com It makes no sense.

Now, if someone released a nude version of Final Fantasy Yuna or Princess Dagger Does Dallas, that'd be different. ;-) just kidding!

Anyway, I'll pass on BMXXX and get my boobs for free.

I agree. Free boobs are better. Plus, BMX XXXXXXXXXXXXX has digitized boobs. Ugh.

I didn't buy GTAIII for the violence, but rather the gameplay. Same here. I'll pick up BMX XXxxXXXxx if the game is cool, but not just for the titilation. (Ha! A pun!)

I don't think that's really the issue.

The issue is: if they want to put naked babes in a game, then what's the big deal? It's their game to design any way they like. Then it's up to the consumer to purchase it or pass on it.

If I wanted a game with nudity that was published by Acclaim, I'd rather get Virtua Photo Studio for the import Saturn...

Real Women > Pixelated Women.

If you compare games to movies then it would be safe to say that you can have a good game even if it contains nudity or swearing to drive the story. It does not look like this is the case for XXX, but I can see it opening the doors for RPGs with an adult love story.

Animal House is not a bad movie because it has Nudity. Damage is not a good movie because it has nudity. It goes both ways.
