Hi! I don't have broadband, hence, no Vonage, but I was wondering if anyone has tried playing Netlink games with that service. I'd imagine it's hard to find people to play Bomberman within free local call distance. But if it works with Vonage, you could play long distance, and not incur extra fees beyond your monthly charge (depending on your Vonage plan, I guess).
Thanks for reading!
(oh, and if there are other companies providing phone service over the Internet, well, my question applies to those, too. . .I only know of Vonage though, but, there's probably others)

Well, those games connect to a special server (which is long since down) so the thought of playing Saturn games is long gone, until emulation gets really good.

Is that right? I thought that Netlink games were direct connect, Saturn-to-Saturn. As in, one person would set his/her Saturn to be waiting to receive a call, and the other person would use his/her Saturn to dial the other. Then the fun would begin. :)
Of course, this wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something. :)

Not sure if this is applicable, but I can connect online with my TIVO, Fax Machine, and PS2 through vonage.
BUT, Supposedly I CAN'T connect to TIVO through a standard phone line through vonage. I had to get a USB ethernet adapter ($10)
Vonage is GREAT, UNLESS you leave kazaa open all day, in which case your phone will be "busy" all day.

Thanks for the reply! I think that info is applicable. I wondered if different types of devices besides the telephone worked well over Vonage.
I wish I could try Netlink gaming over it, but, no Vonage for me! I wonder if playing Netlink games long distance would be poor, but, at least with something like Vonage you wouldn't necessarily have to rack up huge long distance fees.

Hell, I don't know. I always thought you had to go through a specific server, but I could be wrong.

Nope. Saturn Netlink games are direct dial connect only. There never was a Saturn server to play them. People always get this confused with Dreamcast. The good news is you can still play Netlink games over the phone any time if you're willing to pay the phone bill for the call and know another person with a Netlink.
