does anyone remember a game mag called game player's? I recently found an issue of their nintendo strategy issue form 1989 while cleaning, and since then I have been searching for info about the mag, but to no avail. anyone out there know anything about this mag? I'll try to get a pic up soon so people can see what I'm talking about.

Cool Mag!
For a while they covered everything with reviews for C64 Amiga PC, you name it as well as Nintendo NEC and SEGA
I need to get mine out of storage... :)

All I know is that the first issue of the Nintendo Player's mag had some pictures of kids' faces next to game cartoons on the cover.
Since nobody wanted to buy my copies off of eBay, check a Milwaukee or Waukesha area Goodwill in the not so distant future.

I know of it, I have about 30 or so issues for trade since I'm only really into the classic EGM mags, not a bad magazine at all. After a while they became Ultimate Game Players and I really got into them at that point.

There were several versions of Game Players... a magazine that covered every issue of the day, and then special buyers or strategy guides specifically for Nintendo, Sega, PC, and GameBoy games. There may have been more. I have scans of some of the issues at my website. Click on Gallery, then Gallery 1.

Oh yeah, I remember them quite well. Next to Nintendo Fun Club News/Nintendo Power it was the first video game mag I bought regularly (along with VG&CE). Pretty good stuff and if I'm not mistaken it was the only mag for the longest time that did NOT use scores for reviews. If they did, I can't remember when they started as from first issue until at least 1991/1992 they didn't hand out scores. Best way to do reviews IMO.

Gameplayers/ULTRA Gameplayers used to be my favorite magazine. It was just so damn funny and entertaining to read, and the reviewers had real talent. No current mag can match their authroing prowess in my opinion.

Game Players lasted from 4-5/89 to 9/96. It then became Ultra Game Players with the October 1996 issue and lasted until June 1998.
By the way if anyone is interested, the oldest videogame magazine still in exiastance is Nintendo Power, which started in August 1988.
It's followed by:
Gameroom - January 1989
EGM & Gamepro - May 1989
Game Informer - Fall 1991
Tips & Tricks - Spring 1994
