Snes battery replacement?

heh I got myself quite a collection in the past months , but the question of battery replacement crosses my mind , If i were to replace the batterys what kind would I need? and what screw driver to open carts with?

O_O and what about differences in imports? I got a pal english terranigma cart would that require different replacement?

You need a 3.8mm Gamebit to open the carts. You can easily find them on eBay or try a gaming shop like ncsx.com

The battery inside is a CR2032 watch battery. The same ones the DC VMU uses. You should be able to find them at your local grocery store, they're very common.

I don't know about PAL cart batteries but I would think they would be the same

Frequently, the battery is soldered to the board. You can get either generic CR2032 batteries, clip the old battery off of it's mounting legs, and reattach the new battery in its place. OR, you can actually buy CR2032 with the legs already attached and just R&R the original battery as a unit. Both types are available from electronics suppliers like digikey.com (and mightily cheaper than stores / online game supply resellers, but there will usually be a minimum order quantity).

BTW: Having to replace a battery is not that common. I ran a survey on gamefaqs and virtually no one had ever had to do it. RPG's are the most likely, however.

I'm not surprised that many of the gamefaqs posters haven't bothered to replace any batteries.
