Anyone remembe rmoments playing games by yourself or with a friend and something happens in the game itself that surprises the hell outta ya like a twist in the storyline, the ending, or something else? And then you go to tell friends about it and sometimes they don't belive you?

What about when you saw the ending of Metroid?

The Castlevania 3 ending with Sypha, when she withdrew the hood and you saw the long hair and the ending said Sypha was a she. My sister and I were like, what? it said Sypha was a he way back when you first ran into him/her. Looking on it now, Konami couldn't be bothered to add change one word that appears in the dialogue box when Sypha is your spirit partner?

Heh, I got a few. I always called them the "OH SHIIIIIIIIIT!!!!" moments LOL

1) DESTRUCT SEQUENCE ACTIVATED (Metroid)

2) Hitler showing up at the end of Bionic Commando

3) Act 3 of Snatcher

4) Throwing the rock at the computer in Jurassic Park Sega CD

I'd have more, but I'll leave this to older systems

There was an even bigger surprise when you inserted the Apple II version's floppy disc in upside-down! :D

DUDE! I had completely forgotten about that part in JP Sega CD, that was great!

From my childhood...

- The part in Ninja Gaiden II where...what's her face gets stabbed in the back and you see her blood dripping off the sword of chaos. That f*cked me up *good* at that age.

- The look on my face apparently when after sitting with Star Soldier NES for a month, finally getting the pattersn down and realizing all that wrok was for "CONGRATULATIONS". The kid I was baby sitting at the time couldn't stop laughing.

Lately...

- The part in Wizardry PS2 where the creature misunderstands a characters name and calls him a 'Fag'.

- Half of the plot twists in Manhattan Requiem...that story is messed up.

- Panzer Dragoon Saga...best mind fuck of an ending, EVER.

Among others...

The first thing that comes to mind is finding the entrance to level 7 in the original Legend of Zelda, completely by mistake. I was at a friend's house at the time as he played his copy of the game. Once the whistle was blown and the entrance appeared we looked at each other like "WTF?!" He went down those stairs and the screen transitioned to level 7 and I think we both screamed, because it was the only level we couldn't find! I remember being in such shock that I actually got up and ran all the way home so I could try it on my own copy of the game. I just had to make sure it was still there. :)

Keep the stories up guys! Maybe if they work out Joe can add a new part in the book for stories like these.

Pretty much all the endings in Twisted Metal 2 would "imo" qualify here. Especially Hammerhead's, oh yeah, lol. :devilish: :rocker:

I loved the storyline to Final Fantasy Adventure, because all the really popular RPGs were spoiled for me. Usually by friends, strategy guides, or magazines...

SNATCHER, of course, had plenty of HOLY CRAP moments, but the ones I remember the most are (without spoiling anything) Alice and the 3rd door in the hospital.

How about the "Who Turned Out the Lights" level in Earthworm Jim? The giant pair of eyes?

My biggest HOLY CRAP moment would have to be the 2 way mirror part in Resident evil 2.
No matter how many times I play it, that part still freaks me out X_x

the part in castlevania 2:simons quest when you kneel down at the dead end and the tornado comes and takes you away to the next castle/dungeon place. Didn't know what i was doing way back on that day in first grade, but i was blown away (no pun intended) by the tornado coming and taking simon away. It was like "holy shit, what just happened!?!?"
