Have you checked nesdev.parodius.com? I don't have time to proof, but that site should help. You may also want to contact Memblers through the Nesworld board... he would know if you're missing any.

Action 52 and Cheetahmen?

Action 52 and Cheetahmen?

Some people consider them homebrews.
They where all programed by 1 person and Active only made those 2 games
And they had a very limited cart run. (10,000 for Action 52)

p.s: I got most of my info from NESdev. ;)

Not to refute you in saying that they are not homebrews (It could be the case), but a lot of games have been programmed by one person (and in this case, it shows...). Also, SEI, Caltron, and Myriad only released one game, and those aren't counted. The cart run actually implies it not being a homebrew as well. The price on the package also implies retail sale.

nice list going there happy_dude. Btw, do you know what the deal has been with the forums over at playnintendo? I wish they would get them back up.

Also, has anyone played solarwars? i've heard mixed things about it but haven't actually taken the time to download a rom of it.

I have it on cart. It needs two people, and my TV at the time cut off the bottom of the screen, so it was hard to play, even one person on two controllers. What I did play is cool. It's scorched earth/artillery duel. You either like it, or you don't. :D

did you put it on the cart yourself? I'm quite interested in this and looks like i'll have to download it after i get back from classes today.

I had it burned by a friend of mine. I made the label using my crappy Photoshop 'skills'.

It's not too tough to do. The Solar Wars Web site actually gives you step by step instructions. If your experienced with electronics it is a simple task. The toughest part is actually finding a proper donor cartridge with the correct mapper scheme.

I actually like the labels on Portnoyds. When I make carts I tend to use IC sockets which stand a bit higher forcing me to cut the case leaving the chips exposed.

I have a copy of Solar Wars that I got in a trade with Joe. I like the game, it reminds me of a simplistic Worms game.

Hey don't knock that label!

I actually made that copy and traded it Joe. Nice to see my handy work making the rounds.

those are most excellent guys! I might just have to look into doing this, unless someone out there has one already made up they want to part with.

I've got the twin to one in the photo. If you (or anyone else) is interested PM me and maybe we can work something out.

The nice thing about the cart Drexel has is I made it with IC sockets and eeproms instead of windowed eproms. This means you can update the code on it rather quickly. This cart is also compatible with some of the other demos Chris Covel (solar wars programmer) has posted on his website. I originally made 2 so that I could try out the various demos and yet still have a copy of solar wars for the collection.

Hey Goblin, I thought about installing ZIF sockets on an NES board that open and close with a lever for the ultimate in laziness. Desoldering and prying chips off of boards without lifting traces becomes harrowing after the fifth try. :)

What kind of paper did you use there for those labels Portnoyd? I've found 8 point coated paper to simulate the laminate of NES labels.

Portnoyd, those games look awesome.......very nice labels.

Is that Sweet Home cart the translated version? That would be so awesome to have on cart. How did you make that?

One word of advice on that Bratwurst, check the clearance or it might fit in the console. The copy of Recca I made using IC sockets is identical to the solar wars cartridge, the only difference is the eproms were taller than the eeproms. So when the board is in the case it won't fit in the console. I can only play it using the bare board.

ZIFS tend to be taller than the standard sockets, so I imagine a similiar problem would occur.

hey Goblin have you seen Bratwurst's frontloader mod. He doesn't have to
worry about wheather or not the cart will fit inside a toaster ;)

I still haven't made that mod yet. I think I'll need some de-soldering braid
because my soldering iorn just cant heat up the AV section enough to suck the solder.
Or mabye I should just get a better soldering iorn :eek 2:

Gee, thanks. :) I didn't think they were that hot, but hey... thanks. :)

First off, you too can make cool labels, http://schwillz.com/neslabels.zip You need Photoshop, so if you don't, you really can't use them. There's a sized blank, random images I spliced to get components, and the actual labels.

Working backwards through questions,

Sweet Home is the translated ROM, as is FF2. (Not the real translation, the fan one). My friend just burnt the ROM. I made the label by cutting out the Japanese label, and then I yanked a Square logo from their site, and a NOA logo. The Eon Man label is on NESworld. Solar Wars was the same way. I took the title screen, and hacked it up a bit. Sweet Home was a black background with sprites ripped from the game. I wanted to make a label with the standard blue Capcom border, but I couldn't find a high enough quality scan.

The paper used was from Kinko's. At first, I had them print them on stickered paper.. and the quality was garbage. So I asked them to print them on the highest quality paper they had. This worked, not as great as normal NES labels go, but still good enough for my anal retentiveness. I then krazy glued the labels on. The smudging you see on the label is when the krazy glue came in contact with the labels. The glue took the ink right off. :( I don't remember the exact quality of the paper.

And finally, if I see my labels on eBay on a burnt cart, not saying anyone who has posted them will, but if I do, face my wraith. Trading them, fine, but selling them on eBay is not cool with me, especially a translation like Sweet Home.

http://www.angelfire.com/apes/madmeat/toaster1.html

I have a thread running my mouth about it in the Restoration Forum somewhere but the url pretty much sums it up.

And yeah, the original toaster has that retainer bar in there that would make insertion difficult, but for a top loader it would work, and my mod, of course. :D Thing is, I never went through with the ZIF idea because there's so many board variations and MMC schemes it's not worth bothering with in the end.

Actually the Recca cart problem I mention above occurs on my toploader so someone might want to double check the clearance before going ahead with ZIFS.

I don't imagine any of my homebrews would work on a stock toaster, but I do like your mod.
