View Full Version : What consoles do you have more than one of, and why?

What video game systems do you have more than 1 of, and why? For example, I have two SNES systems. I have two, no actually 3 Genny's. I have 2 32X systems. I have 2 Playstation systems.

The reason that I have these multiple systems, is because I have them hooked up in different rooms of the house. I typically prefer to play my systems on my RGB monitor whenever possible. But when the kids go to sleep, I can only really use the main living room TV. So I usually have some extra systems hooked up to that one.

I had a extra Sega Saturn, but I sold it in a package with a bunch of games. I want to get another extra Sega Saturn soon, just cause they do come in handy to have two of them.

Any system that you can get for $19.99 or less, it's nice to have more than one, just for convience sake.

I have 5 Megadrive systems.
The reason is that the local thrift sells them with the games.
So to get any games I need I'm basically forced to buy another MD.
But for $10 with 20+ games I'm not complaining.
Those games would cost $2.50 lose

I also picked up a 2nd saturn becasue it was a model 1 (I only had a model 2)
(and it was only $10 :D )

I bought a used N64 but it had some cracks on its case so I tried to find a new one. The only model I found was a Pikachu N64, so I bought it too. :embarrassed:
I will buy another one. The last non-portable cartridge based console is a piece of history.
Eventually I will buy some extra Saturns and DCs, including Japanese and European ones. Its always a good idea to have some reserves, just in case. :hmm:

I only have 1 double of a system. It is the Atari 2600 4 switch wood grain model. Thats only cause I have not gotten around to selling it.

Now if you include different models of the same system thats a different story.

I have 3 NES systems. I bought a Playstation with all hookups and 2 controllers and in the box was 2 nintendos with 1 set of hookups, an action set cardboard box, 4 controllers, and 2 games all for $20 so i couldnt pass it up. I cleaned them up and all three systems work.

Some C64s... breadbin, SX64, version 1, MAX, GS etc... collecting really. I had two SX64s until recently, and currently have a GS spare if anyone is interested.

Now have 2 NGPCs (link time!) and 2 GBAs, but one of everything else.

I've got three NES systems, one of them flickering WAY too much, another burned out (which I opened up to see the insides) and one for playing. Three or four Genny systems, at least two Genny 2s and a 3 (don't know what happened to my model 1). And two Playstations, one for use and another for back-up (plus my sister didn't want it anymore).

Let's see... I have my original Master System, because I love it, I have my backup (daily use) Master system modded with a "Mark III mode" switch, I have another SMS1 all cozy in it's original box, I have a SMS 2 because I like to have major system variations (that, and it'll play the Codemasters games, and a few Tec Toy titles that won't work in a SMS 1), I have my Power Base converter because it let's me make my Genesis BETTER!.. and let's me play the Newzealand story, I have a Maste Gear converter because it makes my SMS games portable, and I have a Mark III because it the FM add-on and can play games not released outside japan (and SG-1000 games).

Atari Lynx (MKII) that are used with the cable for multi-player games
Dreamcast - One is PAL the other is J-NTSC

2600 x2 - 4 switch woody and a Jr.
NES x2 - Top Loader and toaster
Genny x2 - 2 model 2's, dunno why
SNES x2 - both gen 1 systems, one is my original, one from a trade
N64 x3 - One Smoke, one Fire, and one TRU Gold
PS2 x2 - One standard US, one Japanese LE White console
GBA SP x2 - One US standard Cobalt, one Japanese Famicom LE (will have Monday)

I've got 5 Intellivisions.. INTV I x 2, Bandai, INTV II, Sears...
I've got at least 5 Atari 2600s too... various ones, but no Heavy Sixer.

I move around enough, and my collection stays at my parents place right now. Rather than bringing a heavy console with me, I usually just pick one up at a thrift store. I can't bring myself to selling them, so I usually just ship them home when I'm done.

Plus, backups are always good for the future!

I have 2 Game Cube's mostly because of animal crossing(my girl stole my camecube to play, so I had to get another) I had 2 SNES, good thing cause one decided to not power up so I had the other as a backup.

break it down!

SNES 4 (3 model 1, 1 model 2) pending a SFC
Genesis 4 (model 1, model 2, xeye, nomad) pending model 1 w/SEGACD
PSX 3 (two with the "gameshark port" 1 without)
Saturn 2 (model 1, model 2)
NGPC 2 (jp and NA both silvers)
DC 2
GBA 3 (one afterburned, one TV adapter'd one SP)

reasoning...I don't like trudging machines between my room and the living room (32 inch TV)

as for the handhelds
just wanted two ngpc so I can trade cards in Card Clash

- PSX 2 (my original, plus a Launch day one I got for free and fixed. Swap Imports!)
- TG16 4, 2 CDs, 1 Duo (two duos if you count my TG 3.0 card =) )
- NES 3 (two to sell off...eventually)
- InTV 1, 2, 3

And...I think that's it...for duplicates

I have 13 NES systems (all front loading). I bought them each with games, thats why I have so many.

I also have 3 SNES systems (2 regular, 1 2nd version). Again, all came with games when I bought them... But I would have bought the 2nd version one without games, but since it came with about 5 RPGs for 10 bucks, I took it all!

Finally, 2 SMS systems. I bought the second one as a backup unit mainly. No games came with it.

I narrowed down my Atari 2600 pile by sharing a couple with some friends, so now I'm down to one of each variation (6 yellow, 6 orange, darth vader, 4 switch, Jr.). I have two NES units, one's my old one and the other is my wife's old one. Both blink too bad to play. I also have a stack of Commodore 64's -- in case one breaks I have about four or five spares.

I have 2 NESs. One is a toaster, the other a toploader, although the toaster almost never works.

I also have both models of the SNES. I bought the model 2 SNES thinking it was something really rare, since I had never seen one before then.

I own 2 NES (model 1). Got them both (complete but loose) at once from SlyDC, a zapper gun and several pin connectors (with all this, I should be fine, NES-wise, for a while).

There were other consoles that I had more than one of (including the SNES), but that was not at the same time.

The only one that ive got "mutpiles" of are my Game Boy's.. Ive got a GBC an GBA and a GBA sp... I can in theory get rid of the GBC/GBA and be fine with the sp but i just cant get myself to get rid of a system anymore... I woulda had 2 PSX's, but i ended up trading my big 9001 PS for a compact PSOne, instead of buying the PSOne as a second system...

I've got 3 NGP's: One US Color (Stone Blue) with the box, one JP Color (Camo Blue) complete, and one JP non-color (clear w/ green buttons) complete.

I've also got two ps1's: one regular, and one modded so I can play Metal SLug :D

That's about it as far as that goes...

I have 7 NES systems (frontloaders), 3 are boxed in different box variations, 1 is my game system (the best working system and its patched so i can play NTSC games on my PAL system), 3 systems are for sale/trade. Got them because they came with games and they where cheap :)

2 SNES systems, one is the orginal wich i get as a christmas present 10 years ago. It's MY system (i love my own SNES the most off al my consoles) Its yellowd all over the place but i don't care. The second one is my game system for now (ill spare my old one), this one is in perfect condition. Both boxed in different box variations (got a 3rd box to, but no SNES to put in :D)

2 N64 systems, i bought one boxed and one wich had some games. I tryed to sell the second one (incl good controller) but it went for 25-30 euros and as a good controller goes for 20 euros i decided to keep the whole system as backup.

2 Saturns, had one loose and i bought one later for its box. The first one is for sale/trade now.

2 Megadrives II, bought one in a better box so got one for sale/trade also :) Got a Megadrive I also but i count that as a different system.

2 Atari 2600, first one came without box, got a boxed one later and i keep the first one as a spare system. You'll never know :)

As far as I can remember I have doubles (or more) of following systems...

2 Atari 2600 (one 2600 with 4 switches and one 2600 Jr)
2 Sinclair ZX81 (one with additional memory of 16k Wohaaa)
5 C64 (one bred bin in original brown, two light colored bred bins and finally one in the new style)
7 SMS (four SMS first edition with chunky look, three of the second edition, SMS-II)
3 NES (one is modified to play NTSC games)
2 SNES (one is modified to play NTSC games)
3 MD (two of the original style, one of the second edition)
2 Gameboy pocket (one green and one black)
2 Atari 520 (one STF and one STFM)
2 Amigas (one A500 with additional 500k of ram and a rom switch, and one A1200 with a hard drive that hasn't been tested yet)
2 Atari Lynx (both original style)
2 N64 (one black and one transparent green)

I am still looking for a Sega X32 with cables, a C64GS, an Atari XE130/XEGS and finally an ABC80. :D

2 SNES - Both bough back in '92ish. One was mine and the other one belonged to my sister. She has since fell outta gaming and gave me her system with the 10 games or so she owned. The odd...or not so odd thing about them are their sequential serial numbers.

2 GBAs - One is pink and the other white. The white one was purchased by my sister at Blockbuster for 6 bucks. It had never been rented out and was brand new. She didn't want it and it ended up with me.

3 PS2s - One is my original launch system, who, still works. I purchased a newer model the other day with network adaptor, I would have traded in my launch system, but I couldn't bare to get rid of her. She's my baby. The third system is the LE white, Gran Turismo 4 Prologue, Japanese system. Same as Oobgarm's. We need to check their serial numbers and see how close they are to one another.

2 N64s - One is in my Pokemon Snap Station. Remember those evil things at Blockbuster??

After my taxes come back, I plan to purchase another Gamecube. The Japanese, mint green, Tales of Symphonia system actually.

I like the differentiation between vintage and classic. I consider Dune 2000 for the PC to be a classic - a personal classic, sure, but a classic nonetheless. Same with Simcity 2000. Vintage is something more tied in with age, and that, to me, means 8-bit or older - SNES and later systems need not apply. Not now, anyway - they too will become vintage with time.

So the whole definition is flexible and fluid.

I have 3 Dreamcasts--got good deals on them at the times of purchase. I *may* sell one of them, but am undecided. It is kinda cool having a Dreamcast in every other room!! LOL I also own an Xbox, Gamecube, SMS, Genesis, PS1, Atari 2600--and have tons of games and accessories for all the systems--but my only multi-system is the DC......for now!

I've got a box full of TurboGrafx-16s... probably amounts to 7 or 8 spare systems. I was going to sell them, but I plan on playing Turbo until I die... and I plan on living for another 60 years. What if one breaks?

i have every available color of us n64, as well as an extra n64 regular system that came with a bunch of games. i also have a couple of regular systems in different box varioations that were $10.

i also have 3 dreamcasts, 2 in the box because they were cheap, one to play.

cleaning out my video game room recently, i discovered i had 15 atari 2600 systems. im in a 'mass sale' mode, selling off all my doubles, so i have a bunch of stuff now to sell. im keeping all the major variations(heavy sixer, light sixer, 4 switch, vader, sear models) and had been keeping all of the variations manufactured by different companies, but those are going.

i also have 3 intv 2 systems, one in the box, the others are going..
3 intellivision one systems, all came with games...keeping one, ebay the others

i have 13 various crappy blinky NES systems acquired over time, just waiting for the catalog to order new pins for them before they go onto ebay as well. It seems every garage sale that has games, they are sold as a set for $10 -$20. cant pass those up! also 2 challenge sets in the box and one power set.

have three top load nes systems, one in the box, one for use and one that is cracked that i use to test all the games i sell.

have several SNES systems, three in different boxes, one attached to the exertainment system, one to play, one for girlfiend (not misspelled) to play at
home, one for testing, several now to sell.

two new style snes systems, i had one and just bought one to sell.

5 colecovision systems, just bought two, have one that has ADAm controllers, one has a modified power cord and hookup that i dont think would sell, rest are going

multiple genesis systems, 1, 2, 3, boxed, several box variations, noone wants the others id sell. most came from garage sales with games. also have the heartbeat personal trainer genesis(for outback joey).

3 boxed master systems, one master system 2, others that have different internal games i cant part with. for some reason i have a fondness for this system and dont want to part with the game variants.

i have 9 different colored gameboy pocket systems, 7 game boy systems and a couple of color and advance systems(target red advance, tommy hilfiger yellow color system(?)) just cause i like to have the variations.

i have two different styles of 3do, four systems total. two are in the box, all four were cheap and i hold onto these in case one breaks. id rather not fork out the money for 3dos, and some weeks i just have to play star control 3

i keep 4 playstation systems because they have different boxes and different rear ports. im a super dork and dont like to bail on the different box variations. the most i paid for one was $60, and that was the first one i bought. also have a ps1 new, just for giggles. oh yeah, and the store display ps1 with the ps1 screen. its the coolest!

i have two sega pico systems because one is in the original big expensive 'i spent $139.99 on a toy for my kids' box and the other is in the 'i shop at discount stores and paid $49.99 5 years after the pico came out' box.

and i have two virtual boys in the box because, damn. its two virtual boys in the box and they are nice to look at. one was $5 and the other was $7.99

two microvisions in the box too, one doesnt work, so its basically useless.

so after all of this typing, i keep almost all types of system variations i come across, and collected a bunch of extra stuff that im going to rid my life of to make more room for other games. should be able to complete at least the virtual boy and nes collections after the sales, and maybe even master system, depending on the revenue.

Off the top of my head:

3 x Dreamcast (1 boxed, 2 loose bought with piles of games)
5 x Neo Geo AES (3 boxed Gold Systems one of which is US serial #000220 and is MINT, 2 modded decks: yes, you read that right)
~15 NGPC's (all 8 Jp slimlines boxed, some doubles of those, and a number of others, mostly color variants)
3 x Neo CDZ (all 3 boxed, one new)
5 x Turbo Grafx PAL systems (boxed and new, got a decent deal on'em)
5-10 x US TG16's at any point in time (most gotten with collections)
5-15 x US Turbo Duo's (included a new/sealed box one)
3 x SuperGrafx (2 boxed)

I have all the Turbo's and also the Jp systems available for modding which I do occasionally and sell off. I have multiples due to buying package deals to get some games, buying a few collections, buying cheap Turbo stuff when I find it, and I'm a crazy Neo Geo guy all around.

Plus I'm a complete moron. :D

LOL

Ain't pretty. Doesn't matter. I've seen it all.

You'll need to host the images somewhere. Most people use Yahoo! I use my own website which is hosted on my computer. So it's easy for me. </BRAGGING>

This forum sadly and surprisingly doesn't let you upload images for posts. AtariAge does, but this one you have to host them yourself.

Most ISP's provide you free space too. Comcast lets me upload if I have to. And you can link to them offsite. (Unlike places like Tripod and Geocities which suck beyond all hope and have shitty bandwidth limits and should be destroyed immediately. Give me the coordinates of their servers and I'll push the button. I'LL DO IT!! I WILL!!..)

*cough*

Sorry.. what was I ranting.. uh, saying again?

Use Yahoo! I guess.

I have:

2 x NES (front loaders) - The second I bought was only $4 AU. Store claimed it didn't work. I knew better. ;)

2 x Mega Drive II - The second one I got because the store clerk wouldn't seperate it from the Mega CD 2 that I wanted. I wasn't too fussed as this Mega Drive looked to be in mint condition.

2 x Nintendo 64 - One's PAL, one's NTSC. Simple as that. No need for stupid converters and full screen full speed 60Hz goodness.

2 x Saturn - The second one was in mint condition (boxed/manual/all packaging/warranty card etc.) and was only $26 AU. I couldn't refuse. LOL

2 x Dreamcast - I figured I should have a back-up of my most played console. Plus the second one's 60Hz mode works properly on my TV's. The first one doesn't - go figure. :o

2 x SNES - I got sick of only having a yellow'ed one, so I bought a second nice grey one (which for $19 AU came with a Honeybee Super Magic converter and a Score Master Arcade stick - quite happy with that :D ).

Atari Jaguar--I bought a 2nd one when I found it cheap. I had to have my first one worked on so I figured a spare wouldn't be a bad idea.

Nintendo 64--Got my second one in a trade...got it with 9 games from a fellow online gamer for a system of mine I no longer wanted but which he did. Of course, I later went and bought another one of the console I traded him LOL

ColecoVision--Found a really cheap one at a flea market that was in very nice condition...so I couldn't just leave it there.

Dreamcast--I heard some of these sometimes just stop working and when I saw them starting to come to Ebay at really good prices with a fair frequency, I decided invest in a back-up one...the original continues to work just fine, though.

NES x 2, since I bought an extra in a yardsale for a buck. Both front loading.

Genesis x 2, because my grandmother bought one in a yardsale not knowing what it was, and she gave it to me. Both Model 1's.

I don't know how I forgot about the NES...I have 4 of those. I have the top loader and 3 of the box-shaped original ones. Those 3 I got for $10 in an Ebay auction. They were sold "as is"...one still won't work but, after much cleaning, I managed to get two of them working so I certainly consider that a good deal. :D

NES - 2: These were both given to me by a cousin who said they don't work anymore. They were stored in a shed or something and were pretty dirty. I got the 72 pin replacement connectors on EBAY and replaced both of them. That did the trick! I cleaned one of the really well, and it looks almost new.

Atari 2600 - 2: I got the first one off EBAY in an auction that said it was untested. The joystick ports don't work Haven't gotten around to looking into it further yet. The second one I got from the above cousin - works fine.

Dreamcast - 2: Read this thread (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=273948#273948) for the reason why.

PS - one PSX, one PSOne... Not sure if this counts as a double...

Those of you with blinking NESes should really look into getting the replacement 72 pin connectors. An easy and cheap fix!!

Where can I get some of those? Ebay, or are you getting them from a particular store. Also, is there a specific brand you prefer? Thanx.

Getting back on topic:

2 PS's - one is an older PSX with the a/v and i/o ports, the other is a PSOne
3 Saturns - 2 model 1's and a model 2. I have 3 becuase the Saturn is my favorite system of all time. I intend to buy more too.
2 PS2 - one's a launch system, the other is a spiffy SCPH-5000 model
2 DC's
2 SNES's (one died on me though, it still works, but only certain games lock up, weird)
2 Xbox's - it's all about the LAN play baby! :D

I like having more than one of each system, ideally, I'd like to have 3 of each system, especially systems that have disk drives. With moving parts, they're guaranteed to go bad eventually, although eventually can be a very long time. Besides, I feel secure knowing that if I have 50+ games for one system, that if my system goes bad, I don't have 50+ games that are now unplayable.

Sorry for the tangential posting...

I got mine from this dude:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3605&item=3077745829. He dropped the price, I paid $5.69 each and now they're $5.09.

Let's see...

The only system I own more than one of is Nes- I've got 4.

1. My original NES from back in the day (Still works too)
2. Bought one with five games, 2 controls and a gray light gun for $10
3. Found a BRAND NEW SEALED NES for $35 with like 5 games.
4. A Top Loader from Ebay

I have several 5200s, 2600s and Astrocades but the one system I have the most of is the NES because finding NES systems around these parts is very easy. I'm currently at 23, with only three refurbished and working.

I have 1 of each for the 5200 and 2600, and have a boxed and loose Astrocade.
