Actually, I wish it was a bit larger. It'd be more comfortable to me if the bottom flared out a bit too.

But I'm one of those freaks who thinks the Jaguar gamepad was the best ever.

I don't think the DC pad is too big/small, I just think that the buttons need work. Well, more accurately, the triggers. Finger triggers have never done it for me in fighting games. They did make a 6 face button pad for the DC in Japan (Official 3rd party, based of the Saturn pad), but they're rare/expensive now.

Of course, I use the official arcade stick for fighting games, so I really don't care.

I love the DC's control pad myself but then I guess I just have the right sized paws for it. If you want a simular Pad for the DC that has more hand room on the grips and 6 buttons on top (two double for the triggers good for beat 'em ups) try searching down the 3rd Party Mad Catz pads there are two different designs but the one that looks like a slightly wider normal Pad is the better one.

Personally I'm sticking to the Original pads I like them best.

I've got the ASCII/Capcom Saturn-style 6-button fighting pad, and to be honest I'm not that keen on it. It's a lot bulkier than a Saturn pad, and the d-pad doesn't feel quite right. I don't think it's been used since I acquired a second official arcade stick.

Yeah the DC controller was perfect size for my odd shaped hands....I'm the person who loves odd shaped controllers....but for fighters ...well there all right NOTHING beats an arcade stick ON ANY CONSOLE

I like the controller, but after a little bit, my hands start to cramp really bad, and it HURTS.

An arcade stick is probably your best bet for fighting games :)

I don't think the controller is bad at all. It is basically the same as the xbox, except the grips dont go outward, but rather, straight down. Also, the buttons could use a little work.. they feel cheap.

I also thought the much-hated N64 controller was not too bad. The only problem was the bastard grip on the left side... what were they thinking? 3d = 3 grips... for my... third.. hand.

if you want to use a PSX->DC adapter, just leace a DC controller w/ VMU in another port for saving. I personally love the DC controller. There is also a greta MAd Catz pad with all six bttons on the face. In know most people think 3rd pary pads are evil, but I love the rubber grips on these things.

i'll get acclimated, and it won't take long with games like ikaruga and border down.

hey, anyone try modding the dreamcast by swapping out the orange led for a blue one?

I've done it! It's pretty easy actually. I also swapped the outer casing as well. I'll post pics when I get home from work. :)

I liked the Dreamcast's controllers. I also liked the N64's so maybe it is just me.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the dreamcast controller being a little uncomfortable. It's really uncomfortable when you play a game on another system that, then go to the DC controller it alittle rock. But you will get used to the DC controller!

cool beans...from where did you get the blue case? i wonder where i can get a pink hello kitty case.

afaik the blue case was available as replacement part, you won't find a hello kitty case anywhere, that one was only used in the two (different) limited editions dreamcasts, nowhere else, you'd have to buy such a limited edition to get your hello kitty ;)

I agrre. I have big hands and love the DC controller. The only major flaw is where the wire exits the controller.

thats why they made a tab you could put the wire in so it didnt hang out the bottom.

doing that frequently screws up the cord.

You can get an adapter called the Total Control 3, which lets you use a Saturn controller on your DC and it has a vmu slot on it. Works flawlessly.

There is also another adapter that not only lets you use a Saturn pad, but also lets you use a dual shock, and has a port for a P/S2 keyboard for games that support the keyboard. Also works great.
