Due to the Vehicular Homicide charges pending for EA NHL 2004 coverboy Dany Heatley, EA has swithced their covers to show Joe Sakic. I have only seen the PS2 version, however.

Has anybody located a copy of the Sakic cover NHL 2004 for Gamecube or XBox? Were these versions made?

With the vast gaming knowledge of many of the forumn members, I hope we can get a definite answer to these questions.

Thanks,

Zot

this is off-topic, but EA have a cover please have a person that doesn't have misfortune come to them? I'm scared , Pujols will be on the new baseball....If EA ruins his career I'm gonna be pissed.

I don't recall Sega and Sony doing much better on their covers either. :hmm:

I have NHL04 for the PC, and Dany's picture is on the cover.

There is a chance that the charges will be dropped.

Check out this article (http://www.canada.com/vancouver/vancouversun/news/sports/story.html?id=bf4f644f-9af2-4f0a-827b-449b03a5dcc9) from today's Vancouver Sun. Here's a snippet:

Heatley returned to the Atlanta lineup seven games ago, four months after his knee and car were destroyed on a winding road outside Atlanta. Graham and LuAnn Snyder, Dan's parents in Elmira, Ont., devoted themselves to ensuring Heatley's life wasn't destroyed, too.

They quickly forgave Heatley for the car accident on Sept. 29 and urged prosecutors in Georgia not to file criminal charges, an issue that remains unresolved.

Graham Snyder spoke to the Thrasher team and asked players to carry on. When Heatley returned to his home town to play the Flames on Tuesday, the Snyders, with their daughter Ericka, travelled to Calgary to watch and stayed with Heatley's parents.

"We're just normal people trying to do the right thing," Graham Snyder told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I know I've driven too fast in my lifetime and most other people have, too. I'm just lucky to be here to admit it. What happened to our son, and to Dany, was an accident."

I wouldn't count on it...no one is exactly running out to get all the games with kobe bryant's name. ultimately this type of spectulations just results in me owning something like kabuto chojin.

if contraversy means "rarity" then the pre-hatian GTA VCs should be worth a mint...but you know what they won't because like nhl 2k4 it's got millions and millions of copies pressed and circulating so finding one won't be hard

well this is true, but how many more copies of NHL 2004 do you think they'll press...The Hockey season is nearly over, and most people who were going to buy already have, if they press anymore with Sakic on the cover, I would bet that may not be many. It's not that the Heatly cover would be rare, but the fact that the icon change move has come so late in the release....If anything, a variation with Sakic on the cover may indeed become rare.

Udisi-

That is what I thought. The Heatley cover has been out for quite some time. The Sakic is just starting to show up, and it is at the end of the year. I have seen about 10 Sakic PS2 versions, but not a single XBox or Gamecube version. The Sakic version could very well be the hard to find version.

I'm about 90% sure that im gonna game hunt again today, so i'll go and take a look. I totally forgot about the NHL 2004 cover issue, as Dangerboy mentioned it a while ago and ive yet to see any NHL 2004 for the PSOne (our main collections), and I don't think it's been resolved there either.
