well this is a spin off from that how many collectors thread, got me thinking how many people are at that level.

i guess the rules would be-

you cant count burned games or roms, just real carts and CDs and to make this simple lets stick to consoles, not PC games.

aight?

i'm in.

no idea on the actual number any more but just the 2600 and NES collections combined break the 1000 mark.

Still working on my actual count of them, on my IGN user list & personal database, but the last time I made a list, it was somewhere near 2300 games.

I guess that was about 3-4 months ago. I really should make an effort to see what I have. Don't you hate it when you buy a game, and then a couple of months later you find it, still sealed and forgotten. That happens a lot.

I'm there. I'll count tonight, but I'm around 1250.

Well, you have to understand I've been getting ROMS for over six years now.....and I have complete sets for some systems, and probaly have some duplicates I missed.

But I just recently moved all of them over to my new HD and did some cleaning and organzing, so I can make a exact count.

Just over five thousand. :eek 2:

I'm still a few hundred shy, I just wanted to comment on those IGn list things. When I first saw them I thought they were great, but as I started using them I began to grow a great distaste for them. They DON'T list all the games like they claim to. Any one else own Chicago Syndicate on the game gear? I guess not because IGN insists it doesn't exist. I even sent them an email asking them to add it...... and they said no!

Then a couple months after I registered everything else, games started to disappear that I KNOW I added, and ones that I never added started to appear. I don't own any arcade cabinets, all the sudden I log on and find out I have 5!

I think it would be preferable if they seperated imports and domestic. I know lots of collectors get both, but there are also many like me, who are purely domestic collectors.

Any way I just needed to rant on that. I realize it's free and if I don't like it I shouldn't use it, but I think if you're going to offer such a service, do it right.

Well, I just hit the 1000 mark about a month ago, so I guess this includes me. On a Saturn-buying kick at the moment. :)

I was at that mark, still might be, but i doubt it with the removal of INTV/Saturn/5200.

Well according to my IGN page (which is almost up to date with the systems that are posted on it) im at 943 not counting the 50+ NES games, 30+ GB/GBC, and 20ish Game Gear games...
So im just on the plus side of 1000 games

qbertandernie
02-13-2004, 11:45 PM
im in!

2745 unique titles!!

just a note on the IGN values. i was curious what my collection might be worth, but i noticed each 2600 game i put in raised my value $25!!!
thought i might email and ask if they had a buyer....

just so everyone knows(if you didnt already) the values are grossly improper.

I think I'm around 1300-1400 right now...I just barely keep track of everything...

Good call not counting PC games...I'm close to 1000 of those alone :)

I hit 4000 about 18 months ago and since then have only added about 150. I'm debating on lowering the numbers on my collection just so I have room to move around.

I'm around 700, but how many games does Metal Slug AES count? I figure I can get at least 100 games on NES, Dreamcast, N64 if I sell this, so do many of my Neo-Geo carts? LOL

About 1700 games (with ~80 protos). Here in Italy it's a pretty good collection.

I was actually in the process of cataloging my games when I noticed this thread. :)

Probally at 1200 or so... but only if I count the massive ammount of nes doubles on my floor. :D

Got over that just on the C64 alone... yep all originals...

Rest of what I own on the other formats probably totals up to a good few hundred...

I just hit 1000 in 2004, so probably around 1030 now. I boxed it up in those long short plastic storage containers ( like underbed boxes) and have it piled high up along a wall in my bed room until we finish redoing the basement. My husband is really getting annoyed and wants the bedroom back, but I am not risking that horrible drywall dust and sawdust on my collection.

I'm a little over 2,100 I believe.

Happy_Dude
02-14-2004, 07:46 AM
I have 372 games.
But if I could include my C=64 discs I might be close to 1000
I have about 20 IBM PC games, most of them DOS games :)

So in other words, I'm not in the club :( (yet ;) )

3858 as of this morning (if you're in the 1000 club and don't have some sort of PDA to keep track of your collection, do yourself a big favor and get one!).

My goal is 4002 in 2004.

I have a PDA but it's still boxed and I havent even used it yet. I've considered this, but I was wondering what the best software to use would be. Or other than software, an easier way than just listing it all in Word document.

I just use the notes part of the Palm OS....you can group them in custom categories (collection, trades, gaming magazines, etc.) and then create a note for each system you collect. Just make the first line of each note the system and number of games you have and your category lists will look like this:

3DO - 113
Atari 2600 - 445
Atari 5200 - 64
etc.

You can enter these lists either on your PDA, or your computer...and when you sync, all info is updated on both platforms. This also means all of your hard-entered collection data is backed up. If your PDA's batteries die or your computer crashes, you just have to resync and all info is restored.

Then all this info is at your fingertips when you're game hunting, and will cut way down on uneeded dupes. You do have to keep up with entering the titles though. I have sort of an "On-Deck Circle" in my gameroom, where all unentered games stay until they're in the PDA. SO crack open that PDA...once you've got it up and running, you won't know how you lived without it!

I've got a couple of dozen PC games that I don't count, plus I don't count my C64, Atari XL, TI99/4A cassettes or floppies (another 200+ that probably wouldn't work anymore). I also don't count a couple of dozen imports, since my collection is just domestic releases. About 20% of the total is PSone (978).
