Gamefly takes way too long on turnaround, I emailed them about it and they were like "we are in California, we don't have lots of distribution sites like netflix, we only have one, so east coast users will have delays"
In other words, tough noogies.
Can anyone recommend a different service?

I don't think there are any other nation wide services like GameFly so you might be stuck. I never had a problem with them, from when I mailed back to getting the next set of games was about 5 business days.

I can't recommend any because I don't rent, If I even just want to try a game out, I buy it....that's just how hardcore I am. :)

Yeah I used to have your attitude back in the NES days until I bought "Friday the 13th."

But the games I buy, bad or not, are still in my collection nonetheless.
I've paid full retail price for Britney's Dance Beat, Dragonball Z Budokai, Monsters Inc., Piglets BIG Game, Scooby Doo!, State Of Emergency, Vexx, Extreme G 3, and some others. They all sucked IMO and got maybe 1-3 hours of play time each...but I don't regret buying them because at least I own them. :D
But I don't go plop down 50.00 every time I want a game, Im a thrifty shopper and usually never pay over 10-20 per game. Gotta learn where to shop!
No hating if you do rent though, Im not here to down you or anything, i just hate renting games and just buy. That's just me. Now if you buy games and then trade 4-6 of them into gamestop for credit to get 1 new one....then we have a problem. :o

I would rather try before I buy, safer that way. Unless I know I will love it of course, like Mario Kart Double Dash and Metroid Fusion.

Maybe I've got just a little bit too much money to throw around. LOL

Ummm...no were not. I'm speaking of people who pay 30-40 each for games and then a year later trade in about 6 of them for 35.00 in store credit and plop down another 15.00 just to get 1 new game.
I tried to get a new game for 20.00 by exploiting sales, and I eventually got it for 30.00 by picking up 5.00 and 10.00 games fro Circuit City and trading them in.
I can't believe I even needed to explain this, common sense should have kicked in while you were posting this. :o

LOL I was just about to protest the hijacking!
Well I found one called redoctane.com, but their website seems a little dated, plus they're based in CA too, so I guess I'm screwed.
And yes I used to buy all my PS2 games, until I realized I had almost 400 PS2 games and I must be insane. I sold most of them on Ebay and have rented ever since, except for must-have games.

Maybe I missed it, but is there a reason you don't rent from places like blockbuster or hollywood video?

400.....I can only dream...one day though. :D
I love it how things work out here on DP instead of turning into flame wars. God I hate gameFAQs.

Like others have posted, I got mine mostly on ebay, so it wasnt as expensive as it sounds. It was a good, healthy obsession! Helped me quit smoking as a matter of fact.
And I don't rent from video stores because I always end up paying late fees. I HATE late fees.
