I got 27 of genesis games for 15 bucks including fantasy star and some other good games. But a few of the games don't work. I think it's because in each of those games that don't work, one of the pins on is like only half a pin. Is there a way to fix it?

What do you mean by "only half a pin"?

Out of curiosity, I looked at the connectors on some of my Genesis games, and I noticed that on my Sonic 2 cartridge, the far left and far right contacts on the back side of the connector are indeed thinner than the others, and are cut that way on purpose. The cartridge definitely works though. A number of other cartridges seem to have this too, but they also all work.

Also, some cartridge (I don't think any Genesis cartridges did this, but I know the Jaguar did) have contacts that are shorter on purpose. The idea here is that it can connect up certain lines before others (For example, you'd probably want "ground" to be the first thing connected), in order to avoid goofy sort circuits and whatnot.

I think I'll try the sandpaper scrubbin. Thanks you guys.

Jk, ill try q-tipping them and i that doesn't work, I'll have to buy that stupid bit to open them up to see if something is wrong inside. And yes im talking about how the pins on the ends are skinnier.

Start with the qtip and rubbing alcohol method first. Most genesis carts that I have run into don't need to be cleaned with sandpaper. Not like NES games which seem to have glued-on crud on all cart connectors.

thanks vader. I have cleaned some games with rubbing alcohol before but I just thought that these games could have been screwed up because of the skinnier pins. I will clean them then post if they work or not.

I cleaned all of them with rubbin alcohol and then dried them with a dry q-tip and I got x-men 2 to work. No luck on the rest of them.

It is indeed possible for carts to be fried.. I didn't think this was possible until I bought a huge lot of Genny games (600+ from a wholesailer)

about 50 or so were tottaly dead.

But yea, for the most part, scrubbing hard with a q-tip works wonders, good luck on the rest of em

How much did those 600 cost for you? Last night I had a dream where I went arond to different cities borrowing money from them and building skateparks. In that dream I ollied the leap of faith gap. Then after I told my brother I ollied it, he started playing one of my sega games that didn't work. Then I woke up and realized that that none of that would ever happen. :(
