I found a Sega Genesis at Goodwill today for $1.99!! It came with a
controller, but no hookups. I have a SMS with the same hookups, so I
tested it, and it works fine!! The on/off switch is stuck to the on
position, and the reset button doesn't seem to work, but those are
very trivial things. I just have to plug and unplug to play it--no
biggie! The important thing is that it plays games just fine, so for
2 bucks, I got a steal of a deal! I might open it up later, and see
if I can fix the reset and power switches.
(btw- it is the 1st model Genesis, the one with the headphone jack and volume control)

I nabbed a NES dogbone for $2.99 at a local shop...

I also SAW a toploader, but I didn't buy it. Price tag was $60 but the thing was filthy as hell. It could probably be restored to a fairly good shape, though. If you're interested in the G'ville/Taylors area, it's at Rhino Videogames.

Went to EB. They have a sale where if you buy 2 used games you save 20% and if you buy 3 or more you save 30%. Picked up the following for the Dreamcast:

Capcom vs. SNK
Last Blade 2
Marvel vs. Capcom
Streetfighter III Double Impact
King of Fighters Evolution
Coasterworks
Railroad Tycoon
Virtua Tennis
Sports Jam
Shenmue
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing
WWF Attitude

all complete and in minty condition. I also picked new/sealed copies of Freeloader for the GCN ($5) and Megaman Extreme for the GBC (10) for a total of $112.24. Yep that's a lot for DC games, but the first five are hard to find around here and usually go for $20 or more each on ebay. So I am happy.

In regards to how did I find my stuff, I spent about 5 hours in town hitting thrifts, video games stores, and garage sales. Although I have found better items individually, this was definately the best couple of hour streak that I've had since I started collecting.

99% of the time when I go into a Game Stop or Hollywood Video I don't find anything good. But for some reason over the past few weeks I found NES Flintstones: Surprise at Dinosaur Peak ($5), Contra Force ($12), and Tengen Tetris ($6). NES is my prime collection and it beats paying ePay :)

Yesterday I also picked up five Nintendo Power magazines from the late eighties for $5. It included the strategy guide for SMB 3.

Now I have too many systems and games, and am running into storage problems. I have a lot of fun trading classic game stuff - be sure to check out my trade list at:

I went out today to get a dreamcast from ebgames but atlas it was not to be, the store did not have any systems. I stopped off at the super Wal-Mart and on the endcap was the bargain games. I noticed the sign said all GameCube games on this shelf $9.99. I was surprised to see Lord of the Rings: The two towers there. I picked it up and went to the cashier, she scanned it in and it rang up as $19.99. I told her about the sign and she said that this was a price mistake and the took $3.00 off the $9.99 price. So I paid $7.00 plus tax for a great GC game. :D

Missed out on some 25 CIB Nes Games (only 2.50 each x_x ) cause I woke up late (Probably very good ones too) Was rally bummed until I was talking to a dealer who happend to have 8 factory sealed Sega Saturn Systems in Storage, Definitly not dirt cheap at 70 bux a pop but I'm sure I'll be able to make quite the turn around on these

I've grabbed a few bits over the weekend:

Sonic Spinball (Master System, CIB) £4.99 - a touch pricey for an 'in-the-wild' SMS game, but it's still less than half the eBay rate :)
DJ Boy (Megadrive, CB) £3 - it's a dupe, but is fairly rare and I couldn't resist at the price.

(via eBay)
Spy vs Spy (Master System, cart version, CIB) £1.23+p&p
New Zealand Story (Master System, CIB) £2.00+p&p
Donald in Maui Mallard (Megadrive, CIB) £3.40+p&p

and... *drumroll* ... 'Hunter' by Activision for the Amiga, boxed & complete for £8+p&p. :D :D
I've been hunting for this on/off for the past 5 years. It was one of my favourite Amiga games 'back in the day', but I was never able to complete the cracked copy I had due to a bug in it.
I've been outbid on the 4 or 5 I've seen over the past year, but finally managed to snag this one at a decent price. W00t! I'm really looking forward to dusting off my A600 and cracking into this again. I'll be posting my revisited impressions once I've had a chance to get stuck in. :rocker:

okay i think the story here may be what I passed on as much as what i actually bought. Stupid I is feeling, yet also semi-ignorant. Anyhoo actually picked up: Atari 2600 - River raid, Decathlon, Gopher, and Chase (searsw/pic), ps1 -Atrain w/longbox, Genny - Marko's football complete amd Zoom complete. Now here's a sampling of things I passed by: NES ROB unit -it was pretty filthy and missing the battery cover, Atari 7800 system fairly minty but missing controllers and game switch, a Sears Tele-Games system - it looked like the games were all pong variations. A Tele-Games Intellivision system -again kinda rusty. Also a couple of games for the Fairchild(?) system and a whole mess of TRS-80 games. If I only had more money!!!

Loose Genesis Hard Drivin' $3

Damn, that game's fun! And for not having any special hardware, it sure can push a good amount of poly's for a 1989 game system.

Reading old nintendo powers may sound stupid and boring, but to me itds a goldmine of entertainment. OK that was corny but nice find. Oh dear, I need to work on my cool...

Found a nice VG store on my trip, but MAN were their prices high in places...had a fair amount of sealed NGPC games...$30-50 each, sealed Lynx games (like Cyberball) for $20-30.

Great selection, nice folks...but the prices...wow.
