I found a Sega Genesis at Goodwill today for $1.99!! It came with a
controller, but no hookups. I have a SMS with the same hookups, so I
tested it, and it works fine!! The on/off switch is stuck to the on
position, and the reset button doesn't seem to work, but those are
very trivial things. I just have to plug and unplug to play it--no
biggie! The important thing is that it plays games just fine, so for
2 bucks, I got a steal of a deal! I might open it up later, and see
if I can fix the reset and power switches. X_x
(btw- it is the 1st model Genesis, the one with the headphone jack and volume control)

nice find. normally a genny of that caliber would be at least $10.

Those switches will be an easy fix. Probably just need to be cleaned off which is usually what I find.

That would sure be nice!! Even if I can't fix them, it still works fine! I was just playing a few rounds of Super street fighter 2......

Yeah, just imagine that...some of us don't get stuff for free, you know...

Where I live, Goodwill sells loose NES and Genesis consoles $8 apiece. Crappy, yes.

Really? $2 seems to be the average here at thrifts (though lacking controllers sometimes)

Yeah, and $3 for carts (sometimes they even have sleeves, in the case of NES, or boxes, for Genesis... o_O)

I paid $50 for my Sega Genesis. I did buy it in 1991 though, when they were retailing for over $100, so it was a good deal for back then. It still works like a charm too. :)
