i got the idea from here : http://www.cementimental.com/nes.html
but i did it with a sega genesis vers 2. anyway i took the innards out and popped in a syd of valis cart and then i took a quarter and raked it along the big chip in the middle of the circuit board.
the left side of the chip where the metal legs stick out when you rub a quarter on it gets some pretty killer video glitch effects makes some nice noise as well.
another trick i did was pop in a steel empire cart and when the music starts slighty pop the cartridge off to the side depending on how you do it the music starts glitching . then i tried it with sonic 2 got it all screwed up and making weird noise and put in star flight and then the genesis was tottaly messed up making super harsh noise and making seziure inducing psychedelic blocks of garbled sprites. awesome shit. everybody check out the link above for more info

It almost seems like the same effects can be brought on by following these easy steps:

1. Take NES
2. Take Hammer
3. Smash NES with Hammer :\

Seriously though, looking at that pageI don't really see the point. *shrug*

Reminds me of those Gamepro tricks where you'd put in one cart on the Genesis, turn it on, and then yank it out, and put in another cart for some random glitched bonus or something.

seems pretty pointless, and useless way to spend time/money, especially when there are people who would like to play and collect those systems. I guess different things get different people off...... x_x

well i mean you can make some nice noise with it. i do alot of experimental electronic noise based music mainly made by modifying existing electronic toys and such. i mean i think using an atari as a musical insturment makes alot more use out of it then just playing an old pac man cart. check these links out http://www.geocities.com/Foxglove_9/kom.gif

and i mean the guys doing the game genie codes making their own codes to change the music thats far more innovative then infinite lives bullshit.
i realize people collect those systems but i used a genesis its not like i went out and did it to a heavy sixer or a sg-1000.

My brother and his friend used to do this. They would hit the games while they were in the system (Kick, punch, throw things at them). Or, just drop the system with the game in it. It pissed me off when he was using my stuff. Needless to say, that ended quickly.

Usually it would just be weird game glitches, crappy noises. Sometimes, odd stuff would happen though.

Why you would want to do this, I haven't a clue. I can understand why you may want to, but not my brother and his friend.
