The bad news is ... I paid $175 for a Fatal Fury II MVS cart today.

The good news is ... it was in a Neo Geo dual slot cabinet!

$175 for the dual slot Neo Geo with Fatal Fury II (blah), $225 for the 4 player X-Men. $400 total wouldn't be so bad, if I hadn't have bought those other two games (Capcom Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter and Rampage: World Tour) for $350 (total) on Wednesday. There goes this month's budget.

Next month's might be going to expanding the game room ...

Speaking of which, it's about time to update my Room of Doom pictures.

Well, most of them, like all of these, I get at auctions.

That Neo Geo was about the 30th out of 40 games sold today. It's just a matter of waiting, buying smartly and not impulsively, etc. For example, at today's auction there were several NICE classic games -- Defender, Centipede, Ms. Pac-Man, etc. I will say that all of them were the nicest ones I have ever seen. They all had brand new art, new CPO's, monitors ... they looked better than any one I've ever seen in the wild, I'll say that. Anyway, there was so much chatter about those games that I knew they were going to go high and no one was paying much attention to the other games. Also, there were several games that either had really bad monitors or weren't working altogether, and people were bidding on them. Now this was a cash only auction, and most of these people were there to buy one game. So I just kind of ended up waiting a lot of them out, both of the games I got today were near the end of the main row, but before the classics (which all went for $600-700, good price for the condition).

I did see a Star Wars cabinet which had been converted into a cheap racing game. I honestly did almost cry. There was a San Francisco Rush (Extreme?) that went for like $300 but the monitor was really dim and yellow.

You can always get cheap things at auctions, the key is getitng what you want cheaply, or at least not getting ripped off. For every one of these I post there are probably five auctions and hundreds and hundreds of games I pass over because of their condition or the price, even games I want really, really badly.

I might already have a buyer for the X-Men one. A guy I know was looking for one for his son a while back. If he doesn't want it, I'll gladly keep it -- it's by far the nicest looking cab I own now.

That is the shit.

Nice choices with those cabs, I'd like to have 4 player X-Men cab along with a 4 player Ninja Turtles cab and a Simpsons cab.

I saw one back when I first started collecting games. I'm pretty sure it went for about $800. I thought I wanted one but now I'm not so sure. So many of the used games I look at have crappy monitors and need monitor work, so a game with 3x the monitors might end up being 3x the hassle.

And, thanks Butta. The Simpsons is listed as JAMMA+, as is X-Men. I'm going to be keeping an eye out for a PCB now. :)

There used to be a three-screen cabinet X-Men at this once-great arcade... what they did to the arcade is so sickening, I'll never talk about it. :(

But that's a haul-and-a-half, Flack. Super-nice! :D

Cool. :)

Do you know of any sites that list when arcade auctions are in different cities.

I was just thinking about it, and $175 for a red Neo 2 slot is amazing. Did it have the 2 slot pcb inside? If so, that is really amazing. $175 is around the price the pcb sells for alone.

Enjoy those cabs, and if you want any good Neo MVS recommendations, let me know.

Oh yeah, the 2 slot works perfect. It had Fatal Fury 2 in there, and I tossed in Art of Fighting just to test everything out, and it works great. The only problem is, my 1 slot Neo Geo has a 25 inch monitor, and my 2 slot has a small, like 15 or 17, whatever size the small ones are. So I may end up putting the 2 slot pcb in the 1 slot cabinet and then getting rid of what's left (which would be a 1 slot with a smaller monitor).

So far I have Double Dragon, Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury 2, Blazing Star and King of Monsters all on MVS. Puzzle Bobble, a newer Samurai Showdown, and any Metal Slug are all on my want list, but I'm open to any other good suggestions!
