View Full Version : My PS2 is making funny noises

Specifically, during "Now Loading" screens in Disgaea. My PS2, which has worked marvelously ever since I got it a few years back, makes rather strained, Dreamcasty (one of the scariest-sounding systems there is. I keep thinking it's going to explode and shoot CD shard at me) grinding noises. They go away soon, and nothing has gone wrong, but it sounds like something on the verge of breaking. Should I be worried about this?
Also, I had a strange thing happen with the controller. The other day, after replugging it in after having had the dance pad in for DDR, the left analog stick stopped working. Everything else worked fine. Pulling it out of the control port and putting it back in solved the problem. Odd.

Oh crap. I had to deal with this about two years ago. I traded in my PS2, and asked if they could help it. But they really couldn't repair my machine. I got my PS2 as soon as possible, and apparently, there were glitches in some of the earlier models. So what they did is that they gave me a new one... FOR FREE! I still don't know why there wasn't any charge! Guess luck was just on my side that day. Maybe it will be for you as well, Dahne. :)
And I also feel the same thing with my DC. LOL

Mine has given up reading blue discs. It doesn't make weird noises, but now whenever I open it to change the white gear setting, it still won't read blue discs. And I marked some spots that are "blue-friendly."

LOL when my ps2 does that I say something like "Come on R2"(the robot) because it makes those loud, anoying sounds. Anyways yeah PS2 is crap when it comes to harware. But the games are good. Eat me, fanboys 8-)
