I was wondering. Japan has the "BB Navigator". Europe/Australia have the "Central Station".
What about us on America? The release of the HDD makes me wonder if SCEA will ever make one avaiable.
Central Station seems pretty cool, has even a limited but cool e-mail system, plus online tournaments, demos, and news about games and anything related to PS2.
BB Navigator seems to be amazing. Digital camera support, online trailers of games and movies, and looks like you can download game demos to the HDD!
Anyway, what do you expect?

I can't say too much other than the U.S. FFXI launch will not include BBN.
Broadband adoption in the U.S. has lagged way behind projections and half of all (U.S.) PS2 owners online are still on dialup. This is why the U.S. network adaptor had a modem added to it unlike the Ethernet only adaptors sold in Europe and Japan.

My problem is that my game systems are in one room and my modem and router are in another. It's too far away to run a cord from them. Is there a wireless Ethernet receiver out there? :)

Lot's of wireless options exist in the form of wireless Ethernet bridges of the 802.11b or g variety. I have 3 of them in my house and they work great.
If you don't have a need for 802.11 compatablity you can get a Nyko "net extender" that uses a proprietary protocol at 2.4 ghz. It will give you 1.5mb/sec performance for 100-150 ft.

Regarding the Nyko Net Extender:
We've sold 3 of them at Gamestop, and all 3 of them have been returned since they didn't work. Just an FYI. I've never personally used one.

I suspect the Net Extender returns are due to the fact people don't understand you still need a router. The Net Extender makes the conncetion wireless, it does not allow for an additional connection.
With the price of 802.11b items now I would strongly urge people to stick with that proven reliable system.

My cable modem is a floor away from my systenms. If you have none of the equipment, you could easily buy everything you need to hook yourself up wirelessly for ~$80. A wireless router + wireless to ethernet bridge is all you need. I just move the cord between the XBOX and PS2 myself, but that could be taken care of pretty easily too, I'm just too lazy to do it. Hell, Microsoft even sells a XBOX branded wireless adapter now, although it's extremely overpriced.

I have a router, so that's not a problem. I just need something that is wireless and can beam my cable modem singal all the way from my computer to my game systems in my living room, probaly about 40 feet away.

For some, going wireless may be a necessity but I'll avoid it at all costs. I hear nothing but horror stories from people trying to get wireless broadband connections for their systems....
I bought my brother a PS2 network adapter for chirstmas this year. His computer is on the 2nd floor of his house and the PS2 is all the way down in the basement, so he wanted to go wireless. After spending $140 on a wireless router and receiver, he tried for an entire week to get the connection up and running but had no luck. He even had some techie guy from his work come over to his place to help him out but still couldn't get a connection. He ended up bringing the wireless stuff back to the store and just bought 40ft. of ethernet cable and a drill. No problems now.
I'd like to go wireless but it sound like you need to be a networking major in order to get connected. I just have a router next to my Mac with 2 sets of ethernet cables running thru the floor to my PS2 & Xbox downstairs. Thats good enough for me.
