I have just started putting my collection into IGN.com and have already come across six games or so that were not listed. Six games not being listed out of my whole collection would be fine but these were found while only typing in the first 50 or so games. Does anyone else here use this? And are there any systems that it has a complete list of. I dont want to take the time to put in 500 nes games if 40 of them will not even be an option. I mean how hard is it to have the complete channel F list as options.

I was using ign and quit for that reason. I even emailed them asking them to add the games I was missing, ...., and they said no (that is the short version)

I say if you're going to provide such a service, why not do it right or not at all? I've also noticed there values on games are WAY off. Too much for some, not enough on others.

If it wouldn't take up too much space, the collection list thing would much better be done here, but I wouldn't ask that of the staff. The lists we can download are enough by far.

Agreed with Garry. If they're missing games, and they won't add them, and you can't add them, screw them. I'd say you should just HTMLize your lists on your own webspace. This way, you have complete control of them, and if IGN ever decides to do away with the service (not likely, but possible), you won't lose all that work.

yea, I use IGN and I've had the same problem a few times. I just keep using it out of boredom, but it still sucks.

well it doesn't keep values(as of now), but www.fatmangames.com allows you to list your collection, you can also update there database immideatly, so you can add in the games that aren't listed.( Just make sure it's not listed under another title). I've done this and it's great for keeping a list.

I'm actually redoing my collection today on my own webspace as updating things on IGN is a big hassle. Some games, including my arcade game, weren't listed, so I sent them a list with all info they wanted, but nothing was ever changed.

M'eh, you gotta give em credit for trying. It's probably the most complete "add games to a collection and show it to your friends with values and stuff" site on the internet.

Yeah, it sucks and most games are listed under weird titles and the wrong systems, and REALLY F&%^ed up in general. But as I said, it beats anything else anyone has done ONLINE FOR MULTIPLE USERS. (Obviously the DP guide beats the crap out of it, but's it's not comparable formats IMO.)

The only thing that I really dont like about the IGN site is the fact that when you get to a certain size, the page gets really bogged down in loading.... (at least for me using Internet Explorer) My list is just shy of 1000 games on it, ive got most all of it in excel format too so im not worried if they ever drop the collection listing... But i hate having to wait for the page to load to scroll to the bottom to add A game, and then have to wait and do it again, It really sucks when ive got more that one to add, which is usually how it is for me...
Also ive noticed the last few times that ive added games, the site tries to put them into my "Wishlist" instead of adding them to my collection (its a simple fix to click the put in collection list box before adding it to your page) but still...

In regards to the not finding the game title, ive had that problem, just try the title another way (thats usually the catch, where you need Disney's Tarzan, not Tarzan type of shit). For me i couldnt get Dark Forces For the PSOne to show up, and it involved me titling it weird for it to come up in the game finder... But everything that ive got is in the database so far....

How they establish their collection value im not totally sure, but like that really matters...because you have to wonder is it going off of retail, going off of some form of used buy price, an ebay type price.. I dont care, i just use their "estimated value" to scare people...

Click on my sig to see my collection page on IGN.

I've emailed them about certain NES games, and they added them within a few days. They wouldn't change the name of Hokuto No Ken (Jap) to Fist of the North Star (US) though. x_x

I have my collection posted on IGN. They have every game I do except for one. I like it becuase its nicely laid out and easy to read, basically its my show list. But I also keep a duplicate list in excel for more detailed stuff and in case something happens on IGN.

there's also vgrebirth.com quite good, a bit slow on adding your submissions though (and they don't know shit about pal releases and refuse to add german versions that have different cart codes and everything if there already is an european version, stupid ******* )

I think you are better off downloading cart Commander. It is a little difficult to figure out, but helps in the long run. :-P

*havent read all posts*

I've been using IGN for a while and have about 1500 games listed, I dont have my Famicom games listed cause they dont seperate NES & Famicom.

Most of what I have is on there, and when I do ask them to add something they do, and I've had them add about 20-30 items total. It's a very good service and I enjoy it immensely. Continue adding your games, it will be worth your time.

While there are a bunch of methods for listing your collection both offline or online.. there isn't one that does it with the method / speed / features I want.
I'm on my way to remedy that.
Keep you eyes peeled...
I'll be looking for beta testers to help test the system within the month.

Keep me posted on that. I'll be happy to sign up if you'll have me. I like the intentions of the IGN site, I just don't think it's everything it intends to be, amd hassles me too much, so if someone thinks they can improve it, I'm behind them.

i'd help you out as beta tester, and i'm quite good for that as i have lots of pal releases which are the biggest problem for all those systems :)

I just added my collection to IGN.com and had them add 3 games to their database within a couple of days. It's a pretty handy reference. A guy named Peer Schneider sent me the e-mail confirming the additions. You can probably reach him at peer@ign.com.

Or you could go and work with Fatman Games or GameTZ.com (I personally like GameTZ a bit better, just the system, being able to type in a game :D)...not 100%, but there's a large community of folks there and they're actually improved regularly.
