I recently bought MKG, and it works in one of my DC's, but not in the other! Do any of you have this game, and experience the same problem? I've also noticed that the game play is kinda buggy, and glitchy at times--it froze up on me once also. Anyone with similar problems with this game on their Dreamcasts? O_O

Wasn't MKG one of the original titles that was found to have a defective run? IIRC, games that had a bad run were reissued with a green starburst on the cover that said something like "Hot! New!" or something like that...

If your copy doesn't have that logo, I think it may be one of the possibly bad games.

I have owned 3 dreamcast's and I have to say that alot of games froze on that system. Also all the dreamcast's I have had have rusted, and all have had faulty controller ports. Dreamcast imo was just a shoddy system, but it was fun for a while, but, on topic:

Yes, I remember a recall on Mortal Kombat Gold and the quote above me is correct. The good ones had "hot new" on them. Of course, all my dreamcast games would freeze, ok, i'll shutup now. :D

I had that happen with a MKG and Ready to Rumble Boxing. Worked on some DC's and not on others. The R2RB did not work at all. The MKG played but had no sound.

It didn't come with the cover/manuals--it was a loose game, so I have no idea if it said "hot new" on the front--It seems to play on the one DC ok though--although it does seem a bit buggy.

Yes, that is correct. Check it out here:

Rusted??? What the hell?? X_x

It's really too bad that the "Hot! New!" release of MKG didn't fix the bug that made the game suck.

Oh yeah. That game's so full of bugs you could sell it to a beekeeper for a tidy profit. When I played it on my Dreamcast, the fighters had a disconcerting habit of growing long, needle-like polygons from their feet when they're falling down the continue pit. When you DID continue, you'd continue to have this long polygon shooting out of your foot for the rest of the match. There were also sound issues (sometimes the music would just stop playing entirely), and IN THE MANUAL, Midway warns you not to save games on your VMU because it could damage the other save files on the unit.

I've got 3 DC and never had a problem other than some game glitches myself. I don't know about the faulty controller ports, but if the thing is rusting that sounds like it's sitting out on the beach to me.

Well, I do live by the beach, so I guess maybe that could have somethiung to do with it, but, it hasn't happened with any other console or product I have.

Also every Dreamcast i've owned has had the controller ports fry, and I only use first party products. I know about third party controllers frying ports so it wasn't that. When my dreamcasts went they just went. I had no luck with that console whatsoever.

I haven't had this problem myself, but I've heard that in cases where the controller ports have blown, you can fix the problem by replacing a single resistor in the Dreamcast. You might want to search the web for more information on this, since it would be a fairly cheap and easy way to get the system working again.

I've also heard that even though the controllers are supposed to be hot-swappable, that it can damage the controller ports the way you mentioned. This hasn't happened to me, despite hot-swapping them on many occaisions, but you might want to avoid doing that.
