Wow, this is pritty amazing. I didn't know that number existed. I rember watching some VH1 show saying that 867-5309 didn't exist anywere in the U.S. So how could this guy be selling it?

Anyways, I don't understand how anyone would want to spend that much money on a popular phone number. Why not try to get 111-1111 for less?

I'm a bit skeptical as well. I had a hard enough time transferring my home number when I switched apartments in Manhattan, nevermind trying to give it to someone who doesn't even live in the city!

It's a cell phone # and with the new # transfer law that is how he can transfer it to someone else.

its up to 80,300 now. who in their right mind would even pay that much for that phone number. besides, the people that lost could get pissed and call that number like crazy just for kicks. in fact, if anyone is with me, once this auction is over, i am going to call that person when the auction ends and tell them they wasted 80k over a phone number. a phone number. you could buy a house with that money. you could buy an insanely nice looking car. hell, if you have 80k extra that you would spend on a PHONE NUMBER of all things, why not donate that money to people that need it, like us collectors.

It's now at $230,700!!!! ...And the high bidder has 78 feedback and is rated 100% positive. I always wondered what ultra rich people spent their money on. Donald Trump, Michael Jackson, and the like must have eBay accounts. That's the only way to explain this.

I suspect that Michael Jackson is currently a little too pre-occupied to be bidding on eBay :D

Yeah, nobody is really intending on paying this folks.

Incidentally, Charitycasegreg is your title supposed to say "Disgraced" and not "discraced"? Am I missing something?

huh, its at 80,700.00 and now restricted to pre-approved buyers. Looks this this man isn't joking around here....and neither is the 177 bidders who bid it up to nearly 100k. O_O

Back in the 80's when you called that number you got a recorded message from Tommy himself thanking you for being a fan. Well, you did in Illinois anyway. :)

It probably got pulled because ofwhat the article that portnoyd posted said... According to that, its illegal to sell the number, and i bet that Verizon threatened Castration or something and he had to pull the number.
That and all those bids were probably fake, because if people have 80k to spend on a number that was from a one hit wonder song... then we could be doing better things for the people of this country...
