Weekly Finds 2/16 - 2/20

No bargains, but definitely finds...all from a local used game store:

Power Server 3D Tennis - Playstation longbox format $7.99 (17 to go!)

The Raiden Project - Playstation longbox format $13.99 (replaces my copy with only a manual cover...ebaying that one should more than cover the cost).

And the surprise...a boxed DC House of the Dead 2 gun set from Japan...$19.99. Couldn't pass it up, the Sega brand gun is very cool. Was surprised to hear english dialog in the Jp. version of the game. Going to try the gun with the U.S. version as soon as I get the chance.

Contra Force was $30, and Action 52 was complete so it cost me a grand total of $49.99! I'm getting down to only needing the games that are going to cost me some cash. :roll:

the japanese gun won't work with the american release of HOTD2 unfortunately. i picked up one of those at gamestop awhile back (for $10), and was all excited to play HOTD and Confidential Mission with a gun... only to find that the SOFTWARE in the game is region locked... and it won't accept the jap gun. sucks really... because you can still play import versions of the games with the jap gun no prob.


anyway... all i've picked up this week so far are not really finds at all... but i was craving them...

What's the going rate for a used Sega CD? I picked up a Sega CD with a Genesis, two controllers, and one power adapter for $20 from the local thrift.

I went to my Toys R US today to buy R-Type Final (It RULES!!!!) and I had a little conversation with the cashier about the game and shooters in general. It was pretty cool.

I ended up getting 4 free FF:CC buttons and a Holo card neck hanger thing from the nice guy. I also found a cool one handed PS1 control for $5 at a KB toys (Is it rare?)

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 (DC) - complete, $50 AU. Got it off a friend.

What I don't understand is that according to the rarity list, the US version is only ranked an R2, yet is worth about $30 US (approx. $54 AU). Yet in the PAL section, it's ranked an R6 (and justifiably so) - yet is apparently only worth $20 US (approx. $36 AU).

Meh. All I know is that I paid what seems to be (roughly) the going rate on eBay - so I don't feel ripped off.

Not really a find, but a co-worker of mine gave me her son's "broken" PS2--I told her I'd like to try and fix it. Well, I opened it up and cleaned the lens with alcohol q-tip, and very slightly (but not really at all) messed with the lens adjusting gear, popped in a game while it was still open, and it played fine!! I then tried a DVD--played without a hitch! I guess I fixed it!! How about that kids? I got me a free PS2, that I fixed in about 20 minutes!! Hopefully it stays working! LOL! :D

PIcked up a PAL SMS2 off of eBay for $9.50 shipped. I don't know if it can be modded to output NTSC, but I prefer the look of the sleek black PAL SMS2 over the dull grey of the US version.

Well, it's like this. MvC2 is a very popular game in the US. Competitive players love it, casual players love it. As the DC version is the best one and is arcade perfect, most people aim for that. It's not as popular in the UK and europe, however, and as such won't go for as much money.

So best buy at least where I lived got the gh ones, they only had about 3 copies of each, no xenogears or vagrant story, but I had those already.
