... and who's playing it ONLINE?

It's like Deja Vu after playing Xbox D&D Heroes, and with Dark Alliance II out now there's no shortage of this game style, is there? What I like about Norrath is that it's online compatible though. I haven't gone online but I've spent some time getting familiar with the controls and the characters so I'm just about ready.

Nothing like a good hack & slash! Hoping it's even better with three friends online.

I'm a little bit behind in the genre (just got Dark Alliance for the GameCube yesterday)... But it does sound interesting.

I played a demo and it was a fun game.

I will be buying this one (hopefully they still have my Norrath babes pre-order calendar) soon. I can't wait to hack n' slash it. I'll have to put down Baldur's Gate 2 for it.

And Joe, I'd love to play it online witcha. I am on vacation the first half of next week, so we should plan a time/date. What time EST do you game?

Any other takers?

This means I have to buy the game and do some questing before then to get a levelled up useful character. I lean towards the Magic Users. Are we balancing a party or just going for it?

I'm using the Monk Drow in Baldur's 2, since I know I'll want to play it again all the way through with a Magic User character (but not the other way around if I already finished it with a Magical one.)

I will be playing this, as soon as I finish Dark Alliance II. I too played the demo, and liked the feel of the game. I have my issues with Dark Alliance II, but since I beat D&D heroes, and the the origional on Xbox, I had to tackle the sequel one as well. I hope the game is supported and sells well, does anyone have the numbers this past week on how well it did?

I've been playing it online since its release. A friend and I meet up to play. It's great. If you ever do take Norrath online, let me know!

I was a huge fan of dark alliance 1, havent gotten a chance to buy 2 yet, but norrath seems like it will meet my hack n slash needs. Im not a magic person, I like getting close up on the action. I saw the game at blockbuster today $24 new, how much did you guys pay for it? I did not buy it because I was broke so instead I bought castlevania:SotN brand new and sealed for $15 (GH Version). Believe it or not this is the first time I am playing this game, I was never a huge fan of castlevania games, and then I tried lammnet of innocense and liked it. So far im liking SotN, great music and I actualy feel like im being rewarded for beating the monsters now :) Also in the begining when dracula turns into that huge beast my eyes lit up, it was amazing how great this game looked for its time X_x

For all you fans of WARGAMES.

Anyone get the pre-sale calendar- Babes of Norrath? I signed up for the presale, but didn't make it in time (within 48 hrs of release) for the presale goodness.

It supports the headset and the keyboard. I've been able to muddle through random online games without either but a headset works best, especially if you're going to be trading with people online.

Cool - just be on AIM around 8 tonight or PM me your phone number and I'll give you a call when it's gametime with the secret code.

You're going to need a LOT of leveling up though. I'm level 24 and two of the guys I've been playing with are 17-19.

Tried it as a rental last night. Of course blockbuster gave us the french manual with it, so just guessing on how things work.

Pretty much the same fun as Baldur's Gate. Which is good...

What's D & D Heroes like?

What's D & D Heroes like?

Pretty much the same thing, except D&D Heroes doesn't have online play, it's a little shorter (though I haven't finished Norrath yet so I'm not sure just how big it is yet), and the inventory management system is much simpler. In Norrath you have a pretty complex weapon/armor customization system, you can add up to four items to your weapons and armor to do things like increase their speed, damage bonuses, your personal regeneration, resistances, etc.

They're both really fun games. As are the other Baldur's Gate titles.

So, this could be a thread in the Online forum.

How high of a level should I get to before I get onto Norrath online? Or is there some form of 'equalizer?' I would be that you go online with whatever characters you play offline.

Bad- I've been working through Baldur's Gate II much more than Norrath, but I should get into Norrath to get my character up to lvl 5 or something to go online...

Oh yeah. This thread was created when that forum was Xbox only - but I can move it now. Thanks for the heads up.

You can play online at any level really, and it's fairly simple to revive a character (any surviving member of the party merelyl needs to get to one of the check point/save game towers).

Is BGII online for any system other than PC? The single-player hack 'n slash is OK but I enjoy the mayhem of multi-player personally.

I did not realize this game is online for free and uses the headset. I am pretty excited to jump in online as well. My brother has been playing this for a week and loves it.

Can you password protect games ?

Why not pick a standard game name and password so DP members can easily find eachother.

I am going away on vacation until March 6th. I plan on picking up the game when I return and playing online regularly with my brother. It would be great to meet up with some of you guys as well.

Can you password protect games ?

All private games are password protected. The host creates a password and in order for anyone to join they have to enter the password. It's actually a little clumsy because you have to arrange the game completely off-line. So last night while getting everyone together we had to make a few phone calls. After years of Phantasy Star Online I guess I'm a little spoiled.

It would also have to be at a certain time, for the reason mentioned above. If you enter the secret code and the host hasnt' logged in yet, you won't see the game in progress. Get-togethers have to be arranged in advance, I'm afraid.

I just got this game today so I will play later tonight. I would have had it earlier but I had other things to do. :P I have some homework to do now so I will try to level up before then. I also have the headset so I can yell and scream at you guys ;)

thanks for the explanation Joe.

Sounds a little clumsy. Yes PSO did spoil us. I miss those days and was hoping this could fill that gap.

I look forward to seeing you guys online

I spent my entire off day playing this. I am not the type of person who usually gets into these types of games, but this one is excellent. I've freaked all my friends out by telling them I'm playing Everquest. LOL

Definitely the next game I purchase.

I'll be online tonight around 8pm EST. If anyone cares to join in, just PM me here. I'll check in before going online and send you the password to the game.
