And what games?

Currently all I play is THUG under (drumroll please) Yashiro. I have one other online game, NBA 2K3, which of course no one plays. I might pick up a few more that seem popular with the DP crew though. ^_^

I'm just getting into Champions of Norrath and I have a standing engagement with one of our forum members on ATV Fury 2 :)

I haven't gotten around to THUG yet but it's definitely a game I want to play.

I used to play some Twisted Metal Black Online, and some Madden. I recently sold the PS2 though. Won't get another until it hits $99.

off topic, DP, did you get Crimson Skies yet?

I haven't, and still want it. Just haven't found that perfect pre-own deal (or friendly trade) yet. I've picked up a few want list titles recently but this one keeps eluding me. I'm looking forward to playing it!

Yes, my friend, you really do want it. I played it single player through and thought it kicked royal arse. Just a few days ago I took it over to DrJustinRamone's house to play on live, and all I have to say is: wow. I am getting live now because of it (I have to buy a wireless receiever also, so its not just the starter kit) and can't wait to play it and Counterstrike (ordered today, for free) and Rainbow Six 3 (which I plan on acquiring soon).

But, got sidetracked, crimson skies rocks.

While I didn't get live because of it (that goes to CvS2) I did get a wireless setup because of Crimson Skies.

The absolute best game in a LONG time, as you said, in both one player and online.

How did you get Counterstrike for free?

How did you get Counterstrike for free?

I actually got both that and Crimson Skies for free. If you work in retail (I used to work at Circuit City) you can go to http://www.xbox.com/retail and fill in you store's info and stuff. From there, you take quizzes on games and hardware they 'teach' you about and earn points. Crimson skies is 1500 points, as is Counterstrike, and quite a few other games. Each quiz (5 questions per quiz) is 125 points.

It sounds like it would take a while, but I worked enough points up to earn Counterstrike in about 30 minutes. It is a great program, very smart on microsoft's part if you ask me.

I mostly play ATV Offroad Fury 2, and when it comes out Final Fantasy XI.

I'd really like to see a good fighting game for PS2 go online.

I went online with my PS2 for the racing games.
NFS:Underground and MCII.

I have Auto Modellista too but I won't even play that POS offline!

I hear ATV Offroad Fury 2 is pretty good, I should pick that one up! :)

I play ESPN NBA basketball, T.H.U.G, and SOCOM all under the name Paperkut, which is also my XBOX LIVE user name. PS2 online is MUCH better than Xbox online because it is free and in my humble popinion the games are more diverse, not trying to be a fanboy here, I love my XBOX.

Interesting you say that.

My view is the exact opposite. Every single time I've tried to fire up my PS2 online, it has been an exersice in frustration. Frequent disconnects, choppy gameplay, and that's if I can even connect at all.
And before you even say it, no, it's not a connection issue. I know my hardware/software well enough to know what's going on. Many of my fellow gamers have the same issues when trying to play online PS2 games.

Xbox Live may cost $50.00 a year, but IMHO, you get a far superior online experience. Lag-free games, NO disconnects, never any trouble signing on, friends lists, scoreboards, etc, etc. Having one Gamertag for all your online gaming is nice as well, you don't have to sit there and "register" for each and every game you play.

Just my 2 cents.

PS2 Games I have online:

SOCOM1: I was one of the best players you would ever play with, I led my clan [SKO] since day1 of socom til' the final days before socom2. I had at least 15 kills a game, no matter what map, and I managed to stay in the top 30 players in the country for the entirty of socom's like (hitting #20 for awhile) until the cheaters came :(

SOCOM2: Once again I am still leading [SKO] in socom2. I do not play it as much as socom1 mainly because they made the game worse in my opinion. You can come play w/ my clan in east1, or add me to your friends list, my name is PeteDorr.

Tribes: Wow, I canr believe I pre-ordered this game and spend $10 shipping on overnight shipping for this POS game. It was waaay over hyped and it is one of the worst online games I have ever played. No communication whatsoever, feels like you are playing with smart computers. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!

Frequency: I enjoyed this game alot with the demo I got with my NAdapter. It is highly addictive but the only problem is hardly anyone plays it online anymore. Last time I was on maybe 10 people were online, making it VERY hard to start a game.

Lord of the rings-RotK: Enjoyable, voice communication is a plus, but it doesnt really seem worthy of buying it just for the online mode. Gets boring quick (online) and the game is HIGHLY difficult.

Everquest: I have to say this was my first break from Socom1. I am a huge RPG fan and this was my first MMORPG and it was fun. Played w/ some socom1 buddies but I never made it too far. I spent alot of time traveling and never made it past lvl 13 sadly before I was back at socom.

Everquest-Frontiers: I bought it because I was getting tired of socom2's bull s**t. Basicaly the same game as everquest1, I could hardly notice naything new besides a w character and class. I obly played it for a week.

Auto modelista: The graphics are VERY good, but gameplay SUCKS. Its really about whoever plays 1 player more will win races because they will have the better car. Once again, a game that was overhyped during socom1 but flopped big time.

Tony hawk 3: I bought it because it was only $10 at blockbuster. Played it online, watched as people pulled off million point tricks, and I sit there trying not to fall off the rail grind.

I just can't get used to the concept of going online with a CONSOLE. I guess since I've been playing PC games online for over 10 years now, it's so hardwired for me.

For those of you who are playing PS2 or PC games online, we've had a hidden forum running for Xbox Live peoples that I'd like to extend to you. Good spot to get yer online groove on.

Just click on User Groups at the top of the forum page, and select "Online Gaming Network" and subscribe. You can also take yourself off of the list at any time.

That program is great. I am waiting for Crimson Skies , PGR2 and NHL Rivals. Plus I have gotten around 6 other games from that site. PLus I am going to get a bunch of games from the Microsoft Retail page. :D

I really like Frequency and Amplitude for online play. Of course, I think that it would be more fun if I got a keyboard working on my PS2.

Does anybody here has Hardware Arena Online? Here in holland we can buy 2 packs with a Broadband Adaptor and Hardware Arena or Twisted Metal Black for 40 euro's. I don't know of the first is worth the money?
And the second question, does anybody has his PS2 online behind a FreeSCO router? Did any problems with that configuration shown up?

Resurrecting old thread.....

I got a new slim PS2 this month and my addictions are as follows

Socom (The first one)
Everquest OA Frontiers.

I would have tried FF XI first, but the hard drive problem with the slim ps2 just hasn't been resolved. Pity EQ got a customer square could've.

Same for me. NOTHING beats multiplayer PC games: theyre way better, more customizable, and there are TONS of mods for most of them

Do they really de-activate some live games when the new versions come out?

I ask because I bought that new PS2 with network adaptor built in, and I have NHL 2K3...I'm pretty sure that's an online game, and it would kick ass to play against someone..

I was online for two minutes a year back. I was playing SOCOM or whatever it's called and some guy starts yelling some shit into my ear. Still have the adapter and all but haven't tried it since, I guess I'm easily irritated.

Before EA came to Xbox Live, I tried playing some of their games on PS2. But, I haven't been back online with my PS2 in over a year.

I prefer the uniformity of Xbox Live.

I was playing Final Fantasy XI for the summer....but packed it in recently and cancelled my character (all that work, all those hours...lol) in order to make time for the new games coming out. I found that FFXI was hogging all of my time.

I'll eventually make a new character. Might even try out some other PS2 games that I own online.
