Being that I don't know of any import shops in the Cleveland area, it's been ebay all the way for me for Japanese import Saturn shooters. I see that Batsugun is generally going for $45 or so on the bay. I've read a mix of good and bad reviews about the game, so I set the questions before you: Good clean manic shooting fun, or frustrating invisible bullet crap? Is it worth it at that price?

I've only played it on MAME, it's high on my to get list (like near the top) but not having the $$$ kind of hampers that.
AFAIK, this is kind of the game that started the whole mainc thing. The graphics are a little dated, and MAME doesn't support the sound driver yet, so I don't know how that stacks up. Playwise, I've found it to be quite fun and fair if a little tame for a manic by today's standards.
I'd buy it for $45.

Thanks for the reply, Captain. Of course, I forgot to mention that that's actually $45 +$12 to send it by EMS from Japan, bringing the total to $57. Ouch, I say. Still worth it?

A while back, some guy on Classicgaming.com said he thought Batsugun was better than Radiant Silvergun.
So that's a pretty ringing endorsement, although if you ask me, that's just the kind of fanboy mentality that leads people to say stuff like "Blade Runner is better than Star Wars". It's rooting for the underdog a little too much.
I've played it on MAME, and it's a competent enough shooter. You could do better on the Saturn IMO.
