OK here is a "what if?" story that I thought of last night. Read, then say what you think would happen.
What if Playstation quickly died? I would think the N64 and The Dreamcast would be a success and Nintendo comes the worlds biggest game maker. Then Microsoft is crushed by Nintendo and Sega, and after a long feud, the two join forces and take the gaming world by storm.
Now your turn.

lmao... microsoft... crushed by nintendo? .. lmao.. if playstation had quickly died, the dreamcast probably would have become the more dominant system, since it had online gaming, was aimed at people of all ages, not mainly little kids like most nintendo games are, the system itself had better specs, and then sega would have probably lasted to the next generation atleast... then it would be nintendo, microsoft, and sega. this is where nintendo would die, and either microsoft or dreamcast would become the dominant system, depending on how good the new sega console would be. Alot of the NGC games are sega games, which they wouldnt have if sega would've survived... thats just my opinion.. but Playstation WILL NEVER DIE!!!! WOOOOHOOOOO... lmao PSX will still be coming out with new games when the PS3 is out lmao..jk.....maybe....

Yea I don't think there are many corporation that could crush Microsoft, if any. Especially not Nintendo. They're cool and all, but Microsoft has the world in their back pockets. Just submit and buy and XBOX, lol. But, PS2 is best.

No, Nintendo couldn't CRUSH them, per se, but I think they probably would've been forced out of the games market.

well, this could still happen, if i'm not totally wrong Gates once said that if they still make big losses on the next generation AND can't really establish their console they will leave the market!

Without Sony's PSs the market would be more balanced between nintendo, sega and microsoft.
I agree with hydr0x, if the Xbox2 turns out to be a financial failure like the Xbox I don't think that Microsoft will keep trying.
Maybe they will try to release a Xbox 3 but this is a big 'maybe'
Microsoft really need to release more 'killer' games to their system. I don't think that the Xbox2 will be a big hit in Japan (cultural things...) but, after all, the real money is in the US anyway.

Well in my opinion...is psx failed....saturn would of lived a lot longer and got the recognition it deserved, and DC would still be pumpin games...but I think if psx failed and there is no sony..I dont think microsof woulda jumped on the bandwagon....and if they did...your all nuts...xbox is a good system granted but...it has nothing over sega and nintendo except unlimited funding....but what good is that when you have a small fanbase? (dont get me wrong i love my xbox but not as much as sega and nintendo).
If psx died i would see gaming...still hardcore...with companies like snk, and atari, and 3D0 and whatnot still coming out with THE NEWEST system which would be ridiculously high priced and then die in about a year or so....just like the good old days in the mid 90's :P IF PSX DIED ID BE MUCH HAPPIER TODAY

What if Nintendo had decided to market Sony's CD addon for the SNES as Sony asked Nintendo to do?
What if Atari agreed to market the NES in the united States like Nintendo asked them to?
BTW, do these two events have much in common?
What if the Atari 2600 version of Pacman and ET were actually really good games? Could it have prevented the crash?

Who says Microsoft would even have ATTEMPTED to enter if the PSX had failed?
I don't think they would have. The reason they entered is because they saw that there was a chance for another console to get between Nintendo and Sega. If there were no successful console on the market with N and S, they probably wouldn't have thought about it.
