I have always liked to collect anything that has to do with my favorite games even when it comes to anime with the upcoming release of ninja gaiden I thought I would post a pic of the very rare Laser Disc that people claim does not exsist some even say the anime does not exsist. Well for the non believers here it is and for the people that never saw it before there it is so you can say you have seen it. I recently saw a bootlegged DVD go for about 200 dollars on ebay Which I suspect a friend I lent the movie 2 copied from my ld and sold it for profit which he denies only I don't believe the scumbag he is that type of person. Enjoy

I pick them up whenever I can. I bought the Samurai Showdown disc at Gamestop's after-Crimmus 30% off sale and found it to be mediocre. I've only watched a few minutes of the Street Fighter discs I bought but they appeared to be quality stuff. I'm really interested in getting the new Mystical Ninja (Goemon) discs, but my local shop only had the 2nd disc unfortunately...

Everyone's heard of my fruitless hunt for the Super Mario anime movie by now...

The Zillion series is really good. It was made by the Robotech people, and is a classic action cartoon. It's too bad they only released 5 eps and the tv special in the US...there's like 31 episodes, so I'm missing ALOT.

Yes It was one of those very limited animes that never got ported over it was quite a hunt to find a copy of this since the LD format is still very sought after it was a nice collaboration for tecmo and an anime company. I have some Y's LD's As well that are quite nice Ill try to post those as well although I think those have already been ported over and dubbed here in the USA. Now that Im on the subject SNK has some very cool game play Ld's beside the animes out already that feature combos and character Stats some even have really cool SNK commercials on em.

I have go go ackman manga, dragon slayer manga and an issue of shonen gangan. I try to get video game manga before any other types because it helps my collection.

Used to. I still have the SF movie cuz it kicks ass, but I've gotten rid of the rest. Still trying to get rid of my Japanese Darkstalkers/Vampire Hunter anime tape.

I can not stand anime. I have tried to watch it many times with no avail. I know I am the minority when it comes to vg collectors.

There was an Earthbound manga of some sort once. I think you can still find some translated pages online. The humor still works remarkably well.

Most video game anime are reportedly quite awful. Anyone catch Final Fantasy Unlimited?

That's a really good looking LD (took me a while to read the post, guess I can spot LDs or something :D)

Anyhow, that's something I wouldn't mind getting ahold of myself. There seem to be a few other game related LDs, like a laserdisc of the Castlevania arcade game (most of you hate that game, if you recall; it's Haunted Castle). I wonder how many there are?

I tried to purchase earthbound manga from somebody once but they never responded. Final Fantasy Unlimited was awful but I got it from Kazaa so that just made it worse (crappy encoding, real bad subs for the episode I watched not one of the soldat ones).

The Final Fantasy anime was awful trust me you didnt miss anything from you getting it from kazza the only good thing that came out of that deal when I got it was the free T-shirt in the mail and the fact that they had decent sizes so it can actually be worn.

How is the Ninja Ryukenden (aka Ninja Gaiden) anime? I've heard that it's awful. With a new Ninja Gaiden title in the works, I'm surprised that some American licensor hasn't grabbed the anime video for a domestic release. Perhaps the rights are tied up in some Gordian knot of legalities.

Anyway, most of the game-based anime productions I've seen are unimpressive, to put it kindly. For what they're worth, both the Street Fighter II movie and Fatal Fury: The Motion Picture are shallow, well-directed fun, the Final Fantasy OVA series ("Legend of the Crystals" over here) is enjoyable in a really stupid way, the NightWarriors anime is a treat for fans, and some of the Sakura Wars cartoons are okay. Those aside, I'm hard-pressed to think of decent anime inspired by video games.

Then again, I'm also pretty far behind in watching it. I haven't seen Final Fantasy Unlimited, Goemon, Parappa, the Ys series, or the Kirby show that aired on American TV. Heck, I never saw the Dragon Warrior cartoon that supposedly hit the airwaves in the early nineties.

And even if it's terrible, the original Super Mario movie must be found and circulated for posterity's sake.

As for manga, you can find Japanese comics based on just about any popular video game, in both fully licensed form and "doujinshi" indie publications that portray game characters however they want with little fear of legal reprisal. (Nintendo sued a Japanese Pokemon fan-artist a few years ago, but that's a tale inappropriate for discussion around young-uns.)

Well Ill just say the anime starts out really cool with a great ninja fight scene then after that , Well Ill just say there are far worst game related animes out there then this one Art of Fighting comes to mind. It would be cool if it was ported over to see what the hell it is thier talking about and maybe add some historical facts about the game and maybe some interviews with the designers and all of team ninja. I really enjoyed the Street Fighter animes out there I thought the art in those were stupendous and well bison in the 1st one was just bad ass especially when he starts to pummel ryu and ken to a pulp Ill take those animes out there anyday of the week then sit down and watch that hprrible flash kick done by Van Damn in the live action movie. So do tell us about that pokeman fan we are all grown adults here.

From everything I've heard, that old mario anime was really good. With my friends possibly going to japan later this year, I can tell them to get on the lookout in rental stores and resale shops for a copy. With a lot of luck, maybe a copy can get made and sent back here for encoding.
