I picked up Dino Crisis for $15 today, it said on the spine Dino Crisis Greatest Hits. WHY? I have never seen "Greatest Hits" listed on the spine as part of the title. Is this the same game as Dino Crisis? I'm expecting a "duh", but I found this odd. What's worse is at another stop, I saw Dino Crisis for $12 (these were both new, BTW) and it was the original non-GH version. So now I have to debate whether I care enough to drive back and buy one, return the other, to save $3. Might do it, not sure, since the non-GH would "match" the sequel (since the sequel isn't a GH title).
Also, I picked up Nuclear Strike and Soviet Strike. What games are in this series? The Soviet Strike says on the front something like "Third installment in the Desert Strike Trilogy"....and the Nuclear Strike says something like "The Sequel to Soviet Strike". ???? If S.S. is part of a trilogy and it came out before N.S., then what other game is part of this? The only one I am aware of is Desert Strike for the SNES or Genesis. Were there two 16-bit games in the series? :hmm:

Hasnt there only been 3 Dino crisis games released? Those games suck anyway.

The "Strike" series goes something like this.
Desert Strike - 1992 (Genesis, SNES, GameBoy, Game Gear, Lynx)
Jungle Strike - 1993 (Genesis, SNES, GameBoy, Game Gear)
Urban Strike - 1994 (Genesis, SNES, GameBoy, Game Gear)
Soviet Strike - 1996 (Saturn, Playstation)
Nuclear Strike - 1997 (Playstation, N64)
That may be a little off, but I think that is what the series looks like.

:( It looks like a Turok game, but I own no Turok games.

Dino Crisis is a survival horror game. Think of a cross between Jurassic Park and Resident Evil. :)
Actually, the game is pretty boring.
Here is the Dino Crisis series:
Dino Crisis - 1999 (Playstation, Dreamcast)
Dino Crisis 2 - 2000 (Playstation)
Dino Crisis 3 - 2003 (Xbox)

Bah! The first DC game wasn't too bad, just not up to pace in terms of keeping you on your toes as the RE series. Too many puzzles, not enough stomping. I loved DC2.
I'm also confused...do you mean on the side spine is says Dino Crisis Greatest Hits as in all white text on black background, or are you referring to the security seal sticker? Or does it say DC in plain text, then GH in Red Letters/Green Background. Pictures would help, because now I am curious....

It says:
DINO CRISIS tm GREATEST HITS on the spine of the actual back insert. Not the green and red "Greatest Hits" block like all the others have. Not the security strip, either. It is printed as if Greatest Hits was part of the game title. O_O
I still have not opened it but the sequel is better?

There's the green "Greatest Hits" version of DC and there's also a "Dino Crisis - Greatest Hits" version as well. (Meaning, it's written like that on the spine.) Best Buy has a ton of those.
"Future Strike" is a sequel mentioned during the ending of Nuclear Strike, but it was never released (as a PSX game anyway).
Btw, was Jupiter Strike another one in the series or was it in its own little world? :hmm:

Dino Crisis 2 is OUTSTANDING. There's still some puzzles and the like, but it's almost all out action. Great stuff.

Oh yeah, by the way: Jupiter Strike was by Acclaim if I recall. On rails shooter with horrible pop-up and draw in. Unplayable mess, not related.

So was this a printing error that was corrected, or one that is being printed erroneously right now? Hopefully the same game. As said, mine is the latter. I might go and get the $3 cheaper copy, since I might go back to the place on Monday anyways (I need to make my GameStop routes on the 23rd, obviously LOL )

What system did "Future Strike" come out for? I always thought "Desert Strike" was a cool game. After the replies mentioning the other two 16-bit titles, I NOW remember them. Never bought them though. Mentioned in another reply is that Jupiter Strike is by Akklaim, so obviously it would be a different series since all the others are by EA.

It's not a printing error, just another re-release that came after the green GH version. At this rate I have a feeling this is going to be the "Combat" of the PlayStation. LOL
Dunno where Future Strike ended up, if anywhere.

Thanks for the help everyone! :)

This "new" dino crisis falls inline with the recent re-release of A Bugs Life and Tarzan, (originally SCEA published Bugs Life, Disney Interactive published Tarzan and they both went to GH status) as non GH games by Take2 Interactive....
Who in the hell knows why SCEA is doing this, maybe its in line with their 3D only policy for the PS2 that weve been ranting on this last week, and its something like this. Lets re-release these games at like 9 bucks and take off the GH to try and sell some more of them, they'll seem new and people will buy them again.
Im going out on a hunt today for PSOne stuff, i'll see if i can find any OTHER weirdness in this dept... :hmm:

I think his DIno Crisis is a printing error....I came across two today that read "Greatest Hits" in the actual title *and* had the green GH strip on it.
Nice find : )

But I also saw one at Best Buy yesterday that had "Dino Crisis - Greatest Hits" WITHOUT the green stripe.
It still might be a printing error but it seems that there's enough around to make it a genuine variation.

Yes, mine says DINO CRISIS tm GREATEST HITS as the title on the spine, and it ALSO has that green/read Greatest Hits block on it also. I re-read what I said before and it does have both, just I was trying to note before that GREATEST HITS was in the title's name (as apposed to the typical green/red block GH part).
BTW, I didn't do the return/purchase switch for $3. I just don't care enough. Primarily because I went ahead and picked up Dino Crisis 2 for $16 at the same place and after I opened it, saw it for $10 new at several other stores. Doh! LOL
