View Full Version : Did I miss something in the PSX Gunbird Translation? O_o

Okay...I know they removed the cinemas and stuff....but....did this game have an end? I just beat what I thought was the final boss, and the game recycled back to the first level, which admittedly seemed a lot tougher. Did they remove the ending too? Or was there no ending to begin with (ie this is Raiden Project all over agian?)

Any light (that's not a mobile force  ) shed on this would be appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, the endings were removed when the Japanese PSX version of Gunbird became "Mobile Light Force." Fortunately, you can see all of the conclusions at the Video Game Museum.

Ash and Marion's ending (http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/arcade/b/gbt.htm) is . . . well, it's not entirely work-safe, for starters.

What Xs Games did to Gunbird and Shikigami no Shiro was just wrong. Could you imagine what they would have named some other games if they'd gotten ahold of them (in the process removing the story, opening, ending and replacing the original cover art with horrible new art a la the MLF "Charlie's Angels" art)?

Metal Slug X - Patriotic Fighter Squad
R-Type Delta - Starship Force 2000
R-Type Final - Starship Force 3000
Rygar: The Legendary Adventure - Greek Warrior Quest
Shinobi - Ninja Man: Action Fighting!
Contra Shattered Soldier - Cyborg Soldier Fighters In The Future!
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City - Mobster Mania: 1986
Silpheed: The Lost Planet - Mega Space Fighter Attack
Tenchu: Wrath Of Heaven - Sneaky Ninja Attack 3
Maximo: Ghosts To Glory - Swordsman's Supernatural Adventure
Doki Doki Panis - Super Arabian Quest
Valis - Swordgirl: Evil Fighter
El Viento - Boomerang Girl Adventures
MUSHA - Flying Robot Attack
Super Mario Bros. - Incredible Plumber Guys
Splatterhouse - Evil Zombie Fighter
Goldeneye 007 - Jerry's Super Spy Shootin' Game

(okay, I ripped that last one off from somewhere, but it fits this so well)

Oddly enough, considering another thread in the forum, I'd heard that it was because of Sony's approval process that these two games were butchered into becoming a series over here. By releasing Gunbird as MLF1 on PS1, Shikigami no Shiro had an easier time coming over here as MLF2.

I don't know if that is true or not, and frankly that sounds really stupid, so I am inclined to believe it is untrue, but that's the story that has been going around on it.
