I do not like playing handhelds. I need a bigger picture. I enjoy 8, 16, and 32 bit games. The question is: How good do games like Metroid: Zero Mission, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, and other games of this ilk look on the Gameboy Advance Player. I have a 27" TV with S-Video and it has never failed me. And, if these games DO look good, what other old-school-type games should I consider buying for said Game Boy Advance Player/Gamecube (mostly GBA Player, though).
Thanks,
Jim

I want one, too. Problem is, I refuse to pay $50 when I'm sure I'll find one used for less sometime soon. I've seen people on DP who have gotten better deals for it.
Right now, I'm picking up games that I plan to continue on the GB Player. Any of the retro compilations (Sega Arcade, Konami Arcade, Namco Museums, etc.) would be fun. Breath of Fire II is pretty good, considering I never played it on the SNES. From what I've read, it's been enhanced somehow. Oh, and I can never talk enough about Car Battler Joe, but because of the solar panel built into Boktai, I'm sure the Player's no good for that game...

I like the GBP and haven't had any problem with it. I think the picture looks perfectly fine and it is indeed better than using a small handheld while at home. Some people have complained about the image after its been blown up, but I think it looks just as good.

Well, I recently finished Circle of the Moon on my GBP and it looked just fine. Even when you stretch it to the larger screen size it really doesn't lose any quality. And there are an absolute ton of great games out for it.
Both Metroids
All 3 Castlevanias
Both Golden Suns
FF: Tactics Advance
Tactics Ogre: The Knights of Lodis
Sword of Mana
Zelda: LttP
And many more I'm sure, but those are just the ones I'm looking for. I bought the player because I too don't enjoy playing handheld games, and it's perfect.

I must say the picture ISN'T as pixel perfect as it is on your GBA, BUT load up SMA2: Super Mario World on the player and then load up Super Mario World on a snes, and the clarity HARDLY differs enough to complain about.
Not to go too far off topic here but I have a question of the player, it has those Normal/Sharp/Soft blitters, but.. what do they do??
The only time I see ANY difference is playing NEs games on the e-reader tend to blur when the screen scrolls if you put it on anything but Normal, but other than that? I can see NO difference.

I always use SHARP because I find NORMAL and SOFT too blurry. That's my main gripe with the GB Player, I think it looks blurry/fuzzy. I remember the Super Game Boy being more defined.

How is the GBP for older Game Boy Color and regular GB games?

Because of the resolution, the screen for normal GB and GBC games is smaller than the GBA's normal screen size. In other words, more of a border is present around the screen's edges. Apart from that, there are no problems whatsoever with playing GB and GBC games on it.

Well it depends. If you are getting it for a good pruce, such as 10-20 dollars, go for it.
But if you already have a gameboy advance, and is happy with it, or it is expensive, pass. Its all a matter of how much you really need it.

I got my gb player the day it was released and love it. Yeah, the picture is alittle less defined than the original game, but nothing to complain about really. I too don't like handhelds at all really (but do plan on getting this new DS that is coming out).
Games to buy:
All the Mario Bros!!!!! - Get those first and foremost!
Both Metroids
All 3 Castlevania's
Super Ghouls + Ghosts (Personal Favorite)
