Game Console Controller Extension Cables?

I've heard that controller extension cables for the SNES noticeably effect the game in a bad way.l

What I'm wondering is if the modern consoles (specifically gamecube) have this same issue, I was considering getting extensions for my gamecube (I have my gamecube built into my computer, a long with an snes and soon to be N64, and things are getting crowded when people play everything that once. And I cant do wavebird, because of the way we built it, it doesnt fit)

Never had a problem with extension cables. SNES, Saturn, Genesis, PS One, 64, Geo, etc. Use them all regularly.
