I want to use my atari 2600 on my cable ready tv and therefore need the piece that connects the game switch to the cable in line on the tv. I have had these units in the past but I do not know what they are called. I would like to buy a lot of them but I can't search any sights such as MCM Electronics without the name. Thanks in advance for your help.

This is probably what you're thinking about.

But this one is 100 times better. Much better picture and clarity.

I highly reccommend the rf adapter over the switch box. :D

I just bought one of those RF/Cable adapters and it works great. They're about the same price at Radio Shack, if you're in a hurry for it.

Also, you can probably pick up that RF adapter (the gold one) at a radio shack for a couple bucks less then that ebay auction, if there is one local. I bought one for 3.99.

Another stupid question (although I could just try this at home....): does the NES/SNES RF work directly on the pre-crash consoles? If so, which console(s) does it work with? I have all three main consoles from the early 80s (Atari 2600, Coleco and Intellivision II)...

For some reason it's not on their website, but they have them in every RadioShack I've been in.
They are in the section with the different rca y-cables and mini-headphone adapterts.

I bought a bunch of the cheap-o switches (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41008&item=3073700061&ssPageName=STRK:MEBWN:IT)off Ebay, and they are not worth it! Stay away from them!
I got two of the ones from Radio Shack (http://www.radioshack.com/product.asp?catalog%5Fname=CTLG&product%5Fid=15-1268), and these give a MUCH better signal. You can also daisy chain them together...
With the gold adapter, I'll have to get a switchbox or something...

Yup--I just recently bought an Atari 2600 from Jonjandran, and he told me to buy one of those gold connectors, and it made the picture look WAY better than the switchbox! I went right over to my local Radioshack, and they had them in the TV cable section for 3 or 4 bucks!
