Since this poll was TRAGICALLY lost in the crash of this board on 9/11... it's simply too important to let disappear.

So, this "battle of the ages", let's solve it. Which was the BEST?

For me, it's the musings of Kris Kross. The videos are super FUNKAY but the music... OUTTASITE.

Yeah, sure yuck it up. Atleast I'M not the one who got caught sneaking into his bedroom window.

Oh, and MONEY Mark wasn't that good.

I can't believe there's even a question here. OBVIOUSLY Marky Mark has made his, er, footprint in the make your own music video genre. He clearly dominates.

Marky should do a sequel except make it an 80's metal version with him reprising the character he played in the movie "Rock Star"... err... yeah....

Right,

It really is choosing the lesser of evils.

It's like voting for best bad guy---or is it worst bad guy?

I've never figured that one out *sigh*

Please try to stay on topic in this very controversial "battle of the ages". It's up to us as the internet's leading hardcore game group to decide this once and for all.

If the task is too difficult, back out now. But if you've got the guts, vote with extreme prejudice! Let your keystrokes be heard!

And in the name of all that is holy, remember that I'm the miggidy miggidy miggidy miggidy mack daddy... I'm the diggity diggity diggity daddy mack!

I like the INXS one because auto affixation is so damn cool.

Can we vote on which game with a dead person we like best?
Night Trap
INXS

How many more are there?

Yep Tempest...Michael Hutchence was found dead a few years ago...auto-erotic-asphyxiation...I actually still remember where I was when I heard that news...very sad.

I'll vote for INXS because I liked their music (which song was in the Make Your Own Video??)

Have to go with INXS though, the music is...

Well, the others just suck so much!

I was reminded of this thread because I had all those Sega CD's sitting out and after taking some photos I thought "could Kris Kross: Make My Video possibly be as bad as I remember"?

Moments later, I assured myself that I would never doubt my memories again.

I'm mostly just wondering why there's not a Michael Jackson MYOV game.

The guy was so big into music videos (arguably raising the bar with Thriller) and likes video games to the point of begging to get into them (Moonwalker, Space Channel 5) but in this king of the genres, the MAKE YOUR OWN VIDEO genre, he passed.

What a topsy-turvy, crazy, mixed up world we live in, eh?

Didn't they plan to do a Prince one in the day? I thought I remember reading about that crap a long time ago. Those are all very craptacular games that it truly is hard to choose which one is the lesser of the four evils. >:(

He glued a car to himself? Nice job, Michael Hutchins!

I don't think it was erotic, was it? I seem to remember all the stories saying he hung himself, which is quite different from erotic asphyxiation (and please, only the mentally ill would erotically asphyxiate themselves).

His longtime girlfriend, Paula Yates, told many lurid tales of their kinked-out sex life, which sparked the (false) autoerotic-asphyxiation rumors. Here's a coroner's report:

http://www.thei.aust.com/music98/hutchcor.html

And just to be clear: you're saying that people who kill themselves are NOT mentally ill?

Autoerotic asphyxiation doesn't strike me as particularly wacky, at least not compared to many other sexual perversities available for view on the Internet. It's the sexual equivalent of skydiving -- flirting with death to get a charge out of life.

Sadly, the autoasphyxiation side topic of this thread is easier to contemplate than the question Joe posed.

If I had to pick between making my own Kriss Kross video, and any kind of asphyxiation, I vote asphyxiate me!

Egads. It's "games" like the ones in this poll that drove me out of console gaming altogether years back.

Heh!! You have just written the perfect capsule review of the Make My Video series.

Yes, the FMV Era was a dark time in the history of videogames, although I still love Digital Pictures' stuff (MMV excepted!) despite myself. In my feeble defense, at least DP hired genuine game designers, programmers, actors, and directors (MMV excepted!), unlike most other FMV-centric companies of the '90s.

Horrific as the Make My Video series is, there's a PC game called "The Psychotron" with indisputably the worst FMV ever recorded by man. It's the video equivalent of Last Alert's voice "acting." No one ever has any idea what I'm talking about when I mention this game, which makes me suspect it sold a few hundred copies at best; another PC FMV game of the era, the Rob Schneider-starring "A Fork in the Tale," only sold about a thousand copies, and that was with a healthy advertising push.

Oh man, I feel the need to revive this.

Kriss Kross, all the way. INXS doesn't have the one or wo songs of their's I like, C&C music factory didn't stick to the name conventions (or was it the other way around? whatever), and Marky Mark I happen to prefer his film career.

...although if I ever met the guy I'd totally make him play it and ask him how high he was when he gave the go ahead.
