I am fed up with ToToTek's scamming bullshit .. are there any other devices that will allow me to run ROM images? I am just trying to run legit stuff-- homebrew software, hacked copies of games I own the legal rights to, etc. Nothing illegal or pirate, just so ya know.

I looked into the Multi Game Doctor but it is humongous and will never work in the case I built for my Gen/MD. ;) Also it costs an absurd amount and from my friends' experiences they break easily for no good reason. I saw a MegaDrive CD-ROM drive somewhere once .. any info about anything than can let me copy over ROMs and run them, or run them from discs, etc. would be much appreciated :D

Thank you.

I've got three different ones myself, The Mega Disc Interceptor and 2 versions of the Super Magic Drive.

The two SMDs require their own power supply and the "version 1" one needs it's own seperate floppy drive. The interceptor and the "version 2" both have built in floppies. Of the three the two SMDs also need seperate power supplies. All three are around the size of an average cart (height wise at least) and you'd only need to find space for a floppy drive for the V1 SMD.

Unfortuantely though I've not had much luck running hacked ROMs on them. The ROMs load and run fine in GENs but just produce black screens when loaded via the backup units. Bit of a shame really as there are some nice Sonic2 rom hacks out there. Never tried the homebrew stuff yet though.

Epicenter, I've got a flash linker for Tototek and it's fine. What's wrong with yours? It does have to have some specific settings to work on my laptop...

Mine arrived 100% dead. I sent it back for a refund, per their request, but now they just ignore me. Any chance either of you woiuld want to sell a piece of your equipment?
