Just found some "new" info bout the phantom console here:
http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/phantom.htm

there's a (so-called "official") screenshot which made me drop KO:
http://static.howstuffworks.com/gif/phantom-3.jpg

do u see the same as I see? Have a better look at the game "running"!
This IS Metroid Prime for godsake!
Wtf?
Now they even steal screenshots from a Nintendo game.

Sorry but that's just another proof that this console will never see the light of the day....
:hmm:

Now this, this is the work of people who are either Nintendo's answer to the NeXtBox and PS3, or are utterly clueless jackasses.

"I'll take 'companies that failed in utterly hillarious ways' for $300, Alex."

If I wrote an article about "How the Phantom Works" it would be about two lines long.

"It's just renders, dude. It doesn't do anything." I guess I would tack on, "oh, it does light up. There's a light bulb in there."

Until I see one running a game, that's my review of what it "does".

And for more laughs, check out the thread on the Phantom forums... one 'fan' (i.e. beta tester) actually tries to say that the pic is NOT Metroid Prime, and an actual shot from a Phantom exclusive. Some people are just in denial.

I'm utterly convinced that this CEO jack ass is just hyuping up a system he has no intention of ever building to get investor money and live high on it for as long as he can before just abandoning the project and making up something else. Why people still invest with this dumbass is beyond me.

Haha, that How Stuff Works site is comedy gold. They've got a "making a game" feature...featuring Portal Runner, an old 3DO game I totally forgot about (featuring Viki and a lion sidekick, which I had also forgotten about).

Check out that other screenshot...not only is DOOM III coming out the same year NFL 2K3 does, but the system is apparently so powerful and hardcore that you can download the person of Tom Clancy. 30% completed, wow!

Infinium thinks they can be the best and rule the world, although they can't and they won't. They are just trying to make the phantom look and sound cool, but once it comes out the only ones satisfied will be them, Infinium, while the public is dissapointed. Lets just sit back and watch them die, K?

That as 2Advanced stealing the screenshot of Metroid when they made the fake video for Infinium.

Having a screen shot from a Nintendo licensed game is bad but I see a Windows logo in the corner, I don't really like Microsoft but I would love to see them eat a company like this alive. LOL

Actually, I'd heard/read that Infinium managed to weasel a license to use the Windows software from MS, not so sure about that anymore though.

Ah, it's not even worth Nintendo's time. The whole video game market is already ripping their asses as it is.

Well, they'd kind of have to have some sort of Windows technology in the box. Otherwise all it would do is play old Dos games.

yeah but under control of I.L. and they did NOTHING against it.and the "screenshot" has still IL-copyright
I just visited the phantom-forum and it's pure comedy.
There are two groups:
The "beta-tester" who claim they test the system and always reply the same bullcrap and the "Give me proof that it exists"-people (i love those) who ask brilliant questions which get deleted(or even edited) cause the mods can't answer them. great stuff

Member: "This pic shows Metroid Prime!"
Beta Tester replies: "No,it's not Metroid Prime. It shows an exclusive Phantom title"

can u get any more stupid?
I guess not :hmm:

Infinium Labs is just a joke. I can't see them actually releasing their system. If they do, I'm sure it will see the same fate that the Nokia N-Gage did.

Do you think anyone at IL really know anything about games? 2A gave them a video that they thought looked cool. An art studio is still accountable for the art they produce. Most companies that pay for a job to be done don't go back and make sure the studio didn't use copyrighted material. That is the studio's job. BTW they also lifted a audio clip from wargames.

That said, it isn't like IL's CEO is a shining example of truth either.

the phantom has the ability to play any CD game... whether they do it legally or not is another thing, they may have just used metroid as a test and used a screenshot from it or something...

also in computer gaming magazine they said that they were at the Consumer Electronics Show and saw the phantom and played Return to Castle Wolfenstein on it.

If it wasnt for the fact that u have to pay a monthly fee, it'd be kinda cool. Also i dont think it should cost $300-$500, but with the parts its using, it's probably worth it.

It uses a heavy-duty AMD CPU, 1 GB of RAM, and a GeForceFX 5700.

first of all:
If u really think the phantom is able to play Metroid Prime then u r a moron.
Do u think it's some kind of magic-box (press the magic "play any console game" button) or what? Hell,it hasn't even a cd-drive,no drive at all!
and you know that metroid is a Gamecube game...it is a special-sized disc.
and u know what the ppl at CES played? a simple PC in a dorky looking "Phantom"-case (look at the ridiculous size of the "console"...it's bigger than x-box).

but maybe u r right* and the phandoom has the power to emulate Metroid Prime without flaws x_x
