I had mod-ed my O2 for composite out about 6 weeks ago. It worked well (used on a daily basis) until last night....

The system starts up normally, but after a minute or so, the colour fades out and leaves me with a B&W picture (sometimes pink) and it starts to scroll to the left. I've scoured the O2 FAQs but haven't found anything on troubleshooting video. Any one have an idea of what this could be? I've double checked my soldering and it looks solid.

If given time to rest a few minutes the O2 works normally again for a minute or so before pulling the B&W and image shift problem. The system still responds to everything as it should, it's just the video losing colour and shifting to the left.

Anyone got some tips to look for?
(I'm gonna try the RF tonight when I get home to see if it has the same problems)

As you recommended youself, try the old RF connection. Either way, it sounds like a hardware problem to me -which mean replacing the O2. Since the video connection is so simple, there is virtually nothing that can go wrong with that, beside a part dying out inside the O2 itself.

Maybe some other folks who know more about the electronics could help, but I'm guessing it's replacement tiime...

I've never opened an O2, or even owned one, but it sounds like it might be a heat issue... I'd try connecting it the old way and see if it's good, but if you feel comfortable turning it on while it's open and reaching around inside feeling for a warm chip/component, I'd do that. Just of course be careful what you touch (both because of electricity and heat).

The other thing you could try is getting a can of freeze spray from Radio Shack, when the video goes weird, try spraying a little freeze on some chips, if it goes back to normal, that's probably the problem. It might not necessarily be the chip (something else could be causing the chip to overheat), but at least it could narrow down the problem to something connecting to the chip.
