The Fifteenth Anniversary Edition of Street Fighter 2 just came to my local arcade but im getting smoked by all these japanese deejay, ryu, and ken users.

Now I want to use fei long because he is the coolest character in my opinion but I need some advice. First of all is he a good character? Does anyone have a list of the tiers for the different street fighter game? Secondly since you can choose which version of a character you want to play with which is the strongest form of Fei Long? I usually use the hyperfighting version but it may not neccessarily be the strongest.

Lastly and most importantly does anyone know a website that has an indepth Fei Long FAQ. I searched on gamefaqs.com and only found move lists and a couple of tips. No combos, strategies, priority information etc. Anyway, I usually can hold my own at fighting games but these Japanese players are really good at Street Fighter 2.

How would feilong have a HF form?

I'm pretty sure he was alot better in Super Turbo, or Super X or whatever it's called in japan.

If you really want to win, I'd say play with World Warriors Guile, Champion Edition Sagat, or HF Ryu. All of em I hear are pretty good.

To be honest you'd probably do better to ask this question over at www.shoryuken.com.

Don't even try to beat those guys because they will kick your ass no matter what you do. If your a big guy might just try physically threatening them to let you win cause it ain't going to happen anyway. LOL

Or here was my favorite move from 92' at the arcades. I'd get really close and then quickly grab my opponents controller and mess him up so I can get in a few shots. It sure used to piss a lot of people off.

Yeah I think that would get him banned from the arcade.

You can play as Blanka from any of the SF2's. Goofy World Warrior's Fierce Punch, away! 8-)

guile all the way...and you can definitely find some faqs for him.

fei long is ok, but his dragon kick has crappy range, his 3 punch move thingy leaves you vurneralbe...and he had some 360 kick thingy they added in super turbo i never used.

you gotta use alot of jabs and shorts with him to annoy your opponent, as he is real quick. and try the old: hold forward on joystick and hit roundhouse for a double hit kick, then do a crouching fierce punch...it dizzys...alot. and if it doesn't, follow up with another crouching fierce...you might hit them again, that thing has range.

his fierce throw is cool too, maybe my favorite where you flip over him kinda...that was great...dammit, i gotta fire this game up now.

btw that technique of messing with another players controls will not work in japan. the game has two monitors on opposite sides of each other you cant even see who you are playing.

How bout this. Just stay home and get good with EVERYBODY. Let your opponent pick your character and kick his ass. People used to get annoyed if I did that. People don't like it when you're cocky. I later dropped this strategy. I now win quietly, compliment oppenents good moves, and try to shake their hands with "good match," win or lose, and that still annoys them. Can't win with behavior. That and they call me cheap for "blocking too much." What's that about?!?!??! They're just upset that I beat them without special or super moves (I abhor them).

Hmmm. I think I left out a point there.... oh well.

rule of thumb whenever I play at the arcades

if your opponent picks zangief or any other "slow" characters...just walk away from the cabinet cause your ass has already been kicked.

The versions of Zangeif from the alphas and on can be pretty difficult against an opponent who knows hoe to use him, especially Metal Zangief. But in the Original SF2 and so on, he isn't any better than the other characters. I think SF2 had really good balance. It seemed to many it didnt because certain characters are easier to learn than others. If you learn them all, theres no wrong choice.

If you want some rushdown, go w/ CE Bison (Vega, Dictator) or ST/SX Balrog (M. Bison, boxer).

Fei Long's pretty good, but I'm more adept myself with Guile, Sagat, and Cammy. World Warriors Guile = Unasskickable. But that's just my opinion. I'm hardly the foremost expert on fighting games. But I think a fair dose of light punch Sonic Booms, standing fierce punches, jumping fierce kicks, and crouching strong/fierce kicks would be just fine. I haven't played SFII in quite a while, but I think I remember going like this: light Sonic Boom -> jumping fierce kick -> crouching fierce. This can piss anyone off with repeated use, just so you know. ;)

Umm, you can't get good just sitting at home playing by yourself. Trust me.

SF2 had pretty shit balance except for Hyper Fighting and Super Turbo.

WW: Guile, Dhalsim owned everyone else.
CE: M.Bison and Ken owned everyone else.
Super: Sagat owned EVERYBODY.

But the other two were mostly based on counter characters. Granted, they had their top characters (ryu in HF, O. Sagat and Vega in ST) but they were still pretty even.

Looking for Fei Long guides... Man is it me or didn't Gamefaqs.com use to have an INDIVIDUAL faq for each fighter? Where'd they all go??? :?

I had my best funnest fights with SF2 Turbo in Japan. Japanese players had a different style than the guys from Sunnvale Golfland (which was right near Capcom.. so they'd do playtesting there) that I was used to playing with, so it was a treat to try out playing them on my trip there during the height of the sf2 craze. And you're right.. they ARE really good and you always find someone whos mastered a particular character really well.. whereas in the states it was like 90% of everyone mainly played the same old characters. I could go to an arcade and find a Balrog (M.Bison there) player, or a E. Honda, or a Vega (Balrog) player. Whereas at Golfland you'd only see people use those characters occasionally rather than religiously.. then they'd go right back to their ken/ryu/guile.

The other thing that was kind of odd though, was you'd often not see the other person you were playing since the sit down cabinets were faced opposite of each other. So lots of times you'd be playing, and then a challenger would come in.. you wouldn't see them! In between though I'd stand up and take a look :P

It's a Me.. Kickin Your Ass!! thing!....
One thing I learned over there.. Now I'm not the greatest player by a long shot. But I could hold my own pretty good with a lot of really good players. However, over there I was taken by surprise a lot of times with their creative techniques and style I hadn't really encountered before. So it just goes to show you, no matter how well you think you know a game of skill, there's always someone out there who can still show you a trick or two. It just takes a bit of imagination and opening up your jaded eyes to different ways to approach the game :)

One of the reasons that the japanese players are so good with a character or another is that in Japan, most small tournaments force someone to play one character and stick with em all the way through the tourney. As a result, they have to learn how to work ALL the matchup's with their character of choice.
